Today we’d like to introduce you to Federico Janni.
Hi Federico, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in Italy, I always had the dream of America.
I grabbed my first compact camera, I participated in a contest…and I won! Then I said to myself, maybe I can turn the passion into a profession? After thousands of shots, tests, experimentations, observations and contacting magazines, I got my first assignment from MAX, an Italian fashion magazine. The editorial was to shoot in Venice Beach for Men’s inter fashion 2012.
The models were just street artists. Selected for their raw expressions and real-world attitudes. The project was wildly successful. Pivoting on that success, I wanted to explore capturing landscapes in the United States that I could only once dream of shooting growing up in Italy. My dream had become my reality.
Coming from an Industrial Design background, I always had an eye for details and artistic composition. With this in mind, my vision is to produce stunning masterpieces to decorate both interior and exterior environments. To bring the beauty of outdoor spaces inside, to expand interiors and create environments that blend the interior spaces with the majestic beauty of outdoor landscapes.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After the digital comes out and the affordability of cameras that can take good images with just a click, more competition started to increase. Luckily you can’t buy your personal vision and taste, And this is my focus point, concentrate on my own vision.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer and visual artist. I specialize in landscape photography and film pre-visualization. I have an online Fineart gallery where people can choose their own unique custom image to decorate their space. My photos have been purchased to decorate restaurants and private homes. My own vision and style set me apart from others.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The weather and the lights and colors are the things I like most about the city. I don’t really have something that I don’t like actually.
