Rising Stars: Meet Jamie Schiffer of North Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Schiffer

Hi Jamie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I gave birth to my first child during the pandemic, and it was through that experience that I discovered how powerful community and movement can be for new parents. I found an amazing moms group, and we bonded deeply during our Mommy and Me sessions. I also hosted a virtual yoga class for the moms, and that’s when I realized how much I loved teaching mothers how to move their bodies while bonding with their babies. The connection and joy we found in movement during that time sparked the vision for what Om Baby Bliss is today—a space dedicated to building a supportive community for young families and pregnant people, all centered around movement.

With nearly 10 years of teaching yoga and Pilates, and recently earning my certification in Reformer Pilates, I saw a gap in the market for Mama & Me Reformer Pilates and realized it could be a perfect way to bring joy to parents and babies through Pilates. I wanted to create a space where families could thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally while moving together. That’s why Om Baby Bliss is focused on joyful movement through Pilates, but also offers a variety of movement modalities, including dance, barre, yoga, and hikes, all to support families during such a transformative time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At first, it wasn’t an entirely smooth road. There were some classes, like Toddler Yoga, that were only attended by one or two families, but I was determined to grow and improve. One of my biggest challenges early on was marketing and building a social media presence. Before starting Om Baby Bliss, I hadn’t been on social media for almost four years, and I honestly didn’t know where to start. I was unsure of how to find followers or how to reach the right audience. But I just kept posting, offering my services for free to different moms’ groups, and putting myself out there. Working closely with organizations like The Motherhood Club San Diego, The Mom Walk Co. Pacific Beach, and holding classes at Baby Garten Studio helped me reach a broader audience and attract more families to my classes. Along the way, I’ve been so fortunate to have people offer their support—from teaching classes alongside me to coming to classes and sharing their knowledge. It’s been an amazing experience to grow this business in such a supportive community of caregivers for young families.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder of Om Baby Bliss, where we focus on supporting families through movement, especially in the context of prenatal, postpartum, and family-focused Pilates and wellness. What sets us apart is our dedication to creating a community-centered approach to movement, where every body—regardless of fitness level or stage of parenthood—feels comfortable and supported. We specialize in Mama & Me Pilates, Prenatal/Postpartum Reformer Pilates, and a variety of movement modalities such as dance, barre, and yoga. I am particularly proud of our inclusive approach, where we create spaces for both parents and their little ones to thrive physically and emotionally through movement.

We’re known for offering creative and adaptable classes that allow parents to connect with their babies while prioritizing their own health and wellness. It’s this unique blend of family-focused movement, a supportive community, and personalized care that sets Om Baby Bliss apart from other fitness programs. I’m most proud of how we’ve grown from a small idea to a community of empowered parents and caregivers who not only take care of their physical health but also embrace the mental and emotional journey of parenthood through movement.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is the power of community. Starting Om Baby Bliss, I quickly realized that it’s not just about offering fitness classes—it’s about creating a space where families feel supported, heard, and connected. Parenthood can be isolating, and building a community that encourages open communication, collaboration, and care has been essential to my growth.

The connections I’ve made with other caregivers, instructors, and families have shaped the success of Om Baby Bliss, and have reminded me that, in this journey, we’re stronger together. It’s been a beautiful reminder that the power of community and support not only enhances personal growth but also allows the business to thrive and evolve in meaningful ways. Each step forward has been about learning to trust in the collective strength of the people around me, and that has been the key to building something truly impactful for others.
