Rising Stars: Meet Joaquin Limon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joaquin Limon.

Hi Joaquin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started making music around the age of 14-15. circa 2011. When dance music was at its peak popularity. I was and still am inspired by names like Above and Beyond, Porter Robinson, Arty, Mat Zo. Who early on shaped what my personal liking and sound would be a few years later. Before the Mavros Project, my stage name was my actual name “Joaquin Limon”, and with that project, I got my first signing at 17 with Mark Pledger’s Melodika Music back in 2014 and had a few releases with them afterwards. Shortly after I signed with British Label “Alter Ego”. After a few years, I wanted to reshape my sound and create something a little more driving and aggressive. Then the Mavros idea came to life, and I signed a track on Armada Music’s Imprint “Black Sunset Music” in 2017. I had a follow-up release with them a year later which got taken down from streaming platforms because the label ended up closing. Then the Pandemic hit. It gave me time to focus on what I wanted as an artist and helped me grow quite well. I met Paavo from Above & Beyond during the Pandemic and he ended up picking up one of my tracks for Anjunabeats which was released in 2021.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions. Very taxing at times. The constant battle of becoming better to sign with my dream labels is possibly the harshest. I am my worst critic, and I tend to overthink a lot.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well, I am a music producer. I make music in the Style of Trance/Progressive House/ Melodic Techno. I am more recently known for my release on Anjunabeats (which is also my proudest moment so far)

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
I like to listen to music and spend time with people I care about. Being on the screen for so long, and pressuring myself t0 do certain things, makes me forget important things in life, like family, friends, etc.
