Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Grimm.
Hi Josh, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started the brand FITNUT in 2014 after returning from an extensive period of time in Southeast Asia. Toward the end of my 6-month stay, I experienced a painful breakup with my partner of two years and was feeling very isolated with moments of great sadness. I decided to volunteer with a children’s orphanage outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia with the hopes of becoming elevated enough to feel some lightness again. I was incredibly moved by my experience. My inspiration felt by the kids and workers at the orphanage motivated me to create a brand that not only helps people but has a giving-back component.
FITNUT = FITNESS + NUTRITION
I was inspired to build a brand that focused on what matters most to me: FITNESS, NUTRITION, TRAVEL, and GIVING BACK.
Upon my return to NYC after that trip, I started working with the Cambodian Community Dream Association (CCDO) and was named an ambassador to their organization, in which I raised more money through fundraising events in NYC. Now, I take a percentage of annual sales and donate to a variety of organizations.
Since the existence of FITNUT, we have raised over $10,000 independently through fundraising efforts that I have executed for various organizations in Cambodia.
FITNUT today is a fusion brand of private personal training, nutrition coaching, group fitness, charity work, and luxury fitness retreats around the globe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think that anytime someone decides to create a brand, there are going to be struggles, obstacles, and challenges along the way. It’s a personal endeavor that is completely close to my heart and my soul because of the experiences that led me to where I am in the brand, and it’s reach. I never expected a smooth journey, and truthfully, I am grateful for always being kept on my toes.
I do think that I have had an ease for client retention and the ability to reach a broad base of customers and clients. That I attribute to my adaptability and my open vulnerability of who I am, what I can offer, and my value. I think most look up to that and see the importance of my beliefs and how they align with my brand.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
FITNUT has a core focus on training, health coaching, and nutrition guidance. Clients are one on one and online, which allows such a reach, truthful, globally. I also do customized program design through my app, offer branded merchandise, monthly newsletters about what makes me currently excited, global fitness retreats, and I also am a health and fitness contributor for a few publications online from time to time.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
This question is important for me to answer as I have a strong attachment to a few…
I daily listen to both Abraham Hicks and Master Sri Akarshana for Law of Attraction and Manifestation guidance principles and growth. I’m a firm believer in both practices and they indeed have helped to shape me who I am today.
I have become a recent podcast listener to Dr. David Anderson’s Huberman Lab. All of the science and health interests can be found here. He’s fantastic.
My favorite book I’ve read in years is The Untethered Soul by Michael Anderson. That book is life-changing among a few others I keep in my bedside table (The Four Agreements and the Mastery of Love to name two)… paperback always as I’m old school and still like to flip the pages!
