Today we’d like to introduce you to Karla Bagasin.
Hi Karla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It was my high school subject (entrepreneurial management) that started everything. I remember we have to make up something international for the project. Our group was assigned in Europe, and that’s when I found my interest in cheeses and meats. After that, it was just happy hour bites that broaden my palettes about different flavors. Covid happened and I was thinking of something that would pay our bills and make people feel that they’re not deprived of restaurant-level food. My sister and I talked about starting something and talked to my father and he was on board with us. My father has always been our great supporter, he would believe in all our ideas and would push us always to be great not just in career but to be great as a human being. And then we thought, Everybody likes a fancy wine and dine, everybody likes to be safe at the same time. I tried to post and after that was history. I met a person that had a common friend with me, and she was my mentor when I started the small business. She put me in the groups and all her connections and that is when Bagasin Charcuterie was created.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Yes and no, yes because I have a strong support system behind my idea. I have my dad who financed it and I have my sister who is super supportive along the way. No, because there are people who doubted me and put me down. But they didn’t stop me. In fact, they were the one who pushed me more to do better.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I was in the medical field, by degree. I am proud of it because I know medical stuff to apply in my everyday life especially being a mom.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My faith, That’s the only way. My family, No matter what it is, you can count on them—my clientele, who believes in everything I do. My reputation, it can say all about you. My integrity that I know even no one is watching, I’m doing the right thing.
