Rising Stars: Meet Katelynn & Madison Skow of Yucaipa, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelynn & Madison Skow

Hi Katelynn & Madison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We’re Katelynn (24) and Madison (18), two sisters who came together to build something that mattered during a time when the world felt uncertain. The idea for our business started in 2020, during the peak of COVID-19. With everything shutting down and people stuck in quarantine, we wanted to create a space that spread positivity, hope, and most importantly, the Word of Christ.

Even though we had the idea early on, we didn’t officially launch until November 2023. Back then, Madison was still in high school, and we felt it was important to wait. We wanted to be fully committed to this mission and give it the attention it deserved.

Just before we launched, our family went through a tough time. In October 2023, our grandfather was diagnosed with diabetes, and we learned he had neuropathy in his hands and feet. Not long after, he suffered a heart attack. While we were still processing all of that, we lost our great-grandmother. The next day, our grandfather had to undergo triple bypass surgery. It was a whirlwind of emotions, but God carried us through. His surgery went incredibly well, and today, he’s healthier than he’s been in years. That experience reminded us of the hope we find in Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”

During that season of stress and grief, we felt the urge to finally start the business. It gave us something positive to focus on, and it became a way to share our faith with others. Since launching, we’ve been amazed by the response. Our faith-based content has reached over 3.6 million views on Pinterest and brought in over 3,100 followers across social media.

As we worked on growing our main business, we also started a second venture called SistersInFaithCoCustoms. Through this, we provide personalized items like hats, shirts, blankets, and koozies. It’s been such a joy to connect with people in our community and share a piece of our faith with every item we create.

Looking back, we’re so thankful for how far God has brought us. A verse that’s always guided us is Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” We see this business as a way to do exactly that—to shine His light and inspire others to seek Him.

We’re excited to see where this journey leads. One thing we know for sure is that God has a plan, and as Psalm 37:23 reminds us, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him.” We’re trusting Him every step of the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth, but the challenges have taught us a lot. Managing two businesses isn’t something we figured out overnight—it’s been a constant learning process.

One of the hardest things has been managing our time. There’s always something that needs attention, whether it’s creating content, working on custom orders, or handling all the behind-the-scenes tasks. We’ve had to get intentional about staying organized and making sure we’re meeting deadlines without feeling overwhelmed. It’s been a balancing act for sure, but we’ve gotten better at it over time.

We’ve also had to figure out a lot as we go. There’s no handbook for running a business, let alone two, so we’ve had to learn through trial and error. Sometimes that means things don’t go as planned, but we’ve come to see those moments as opportunities to grow.

It hasn’t been easy, but we lean on our faith to keep going. Whenever we feel overwhelmed, we remind ourselves of Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” That verse keeps us grounded and reminds us that we’re not in this alone.

Even though the road hasn’t been perfect, it’s been worth it. The challenges have made us stronger and brought us closer as sisters. We’re grateful for how far we’ve come and excited to see what’s ahead.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our work is really about creating things that make people feel something—whether it’s inspired, or encouraged. We focus on designing and sharing content that’s thoughtful and uplifting. Everything we create comes from a place of wanting to connect with people in a meaningful way.

One of the things we’re most proud of is the way our work has reached so many people. It’s surreal to think that something we made could resonate with someone we’ve never met and make their day a little better. That’s the best part—knowing that what we do has a real impact on others.

What sets us apart is the personal touch we bring to everything. We don’t just create for the sake of it; there’s always intention behind what we do. Whether it’s a design, a message, or an idea, we think about how it might make someone feel and how it could bring them closer to hope or joy.

We also stay true to who we are. Everything we make reflects our values, our faith, and our desire to create something authentic. We don’t follow trends just for the sake of it—we want our work to feel real and meaningful, no matter what.

At the end of the day, it’s not about being perfect or having the most polished work—it’s about connecting with people, sharing something honest, and leaving a positive mark. That’s what keeps us going.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Our family trips to Palm Springs, CA. It’s something our family has done for over 25 years, even before we were born, so it’s always been a big tradition. We’ve looked forward to it every single year, and it’s where some of our best memories were made.

It’s just simple stuff—spending time by the pool, laughing, and relaxing as a family. Now that we’re older, it feels even more special because we know how important it is to have those moments together.
