Today we’d like to introduce you to Kely Lees.
Hi Kely, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Kely came to america from Northern Brazil since 1999, she had worked several jobs throughout her life. She always loved the service and beauty industry and was always looking for a way to merge her passion for skin health and working with a broad range of people.. After becoming a Licensed Esthetician Kely was and is able to fulfill this goal and help hundreds of people feel good about themselves and love the skin. Here in San Diego Kely has become a mother of a 10 year old daughter and she has integrated with the San Diego Community. She loves helping people achieve their goals.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The facial industry is very competitive, there are always new and improved skincare methods. There are lots of disinformation, too many skincare products and too many untrained professionals. Because of that, Kely has become the best at her craft by getting extra curriculum classes, always keeping up with the newest trends and skincare techniques. Due to an ever changing industry, Kely has had the opportunity to work at cosmetic clinics, nurses, doctors, and dermatologists, and has earned her skills in medical-grade esthetics. Kely has learned many different skills from each of many doctors/professionals and can offer advanced treatments for various skin conditions. She has been working at this location for a long time now and uses the stability to maintain the quality of an ever growing group of happy clients.

The “Custom Facials” are Kely’s specialty, each modified and adjusted to clients specific needs. Each face has different skin concerns and needs, that’s why it’s important to assess client skins specific concerns and provide individual special treatment. Lots of clients are coming in to get relief from acne, aging and discoloration issues. Kely then uses this knowledge to put together the exact treatment needed. This way the skin has minimal reactions to all that’s needed to help clear out, rejuvenate, balance and hydrate it. Also during treatments, Kely will inquire about lifestyle, diet and overall health to be able to pinpoint areas that can be improved to help with overall skin needs.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The facial industry is constantly changing and improving. The quality of products has been improving steadily, the devices are also more streamlined and efficient. I see more and more people learning and getting better at caring for their skin. Because being an esthetician is a service industry, I see and hope for the esthetics world that things become easier to make good choices, that Estheticians will get better training and I really, really hope and wish for the Sunblock/SPF industry in the USA to adjust and/or change to this century. All other countries have improved and adjusted with newer formulas and better quality.
