Rising Stars: Meet Kim Poshusta of San Diego, CA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Poshusta

Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Kim Tran Poshusta, founder of House of AU Media.

My journey into the world of art began with a passion that’s been with me for as long as I can remember. Back in 2015, while I was an undergrad at California State University, San Marcos, I launched my first photography business. I loved capturing moments—whether it was the joy of wedding couples, the poise of editorial models, or the serenity of nature. My favorite part was making people feel beautiful. Many of the models I worked with were new to the industry, and they were often amazed at how well the photos turned out. There was something magical about helping beauty reach a new light.

In 2020, I found myself in Seattle, Washington, just as the Covid pandemic was taking hold. Like many others, I was laid off from my corporate job. It was a tough time, but in the midst of it all, I discovered TikTok. What started as a way to pass the time quickly turned into a creative outlet that allowed me to pivot from photography to videography.

Fast forward to 2024, and I have taken that passion to the next level by launching House of AU Media, a wedding content creation page. Here, I focus on highlighting the special moments of a couple’s wedding day—not just the big, planned events, but the intimate, authentic interactions between the bride, groom, and their loved ones. My goal is to capture those fleeting moments that the couple might not remember in the whirlwind of the day but will cherish when they look back. I take a documentary-style approach to my videos, focusing on the raw, real emotions that make each wedding unique. I offer brides (2) two versions of their wedding video: a one-minute reel perfect for TikTok or Instagram, and a longer, 5-minute documentary-style video that captures more of the depth and authenticity of the day. Through House of AU Media, I am honored to be a part of these unforgettable moments, helping couples relive the magic of their wedding day, again and again.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building my brand came with its fair share of struggles. In the beginning, I was doing everything myself. With a background in floristry, photography, and event planning, I became a one-stop shop for newlywed couples. I juggled multiple roles, from creating floral arrangements and planning weddings to capturing moments through my lens. On top of that, I also took on projects for different brands and small businesses, offering them the same level of dedication and creativity.

While this approach allowed me to gain a wide range of experience, I eventually realized that I needed to focus my energy on what truly inspired me: wedding content creation. I have always had an eye for what looks good, and this instinct allows me to know exactly when to capture the perfect moment. Now, I dedicate myself entirely to this craft, ensuring that each couple’s special day is documented in a way that’s both authentic and beautiful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Professionally, I have a background in Global Business Management, and have worked in various industries like defense subcontractor, construction, and biotech.

However, I believe that creativity and ART are what truly keep the soul alive. This belief led me to start House of AU Media, where I focus on capturing the behind the scene (BTS) moments of the bride and groom, leading up to the Big She-Bang wedding day. Witnessing the joy of the couple and their loved ones is what fuels my passion. As well as bringing different cultural experiences, such as the tea ceremony — an integral part of a Vietnamese wedding. The tea ceremony usually takes place in the morning and symbolizes the formal introduction of the bride and groom to each other’s families. It is a moment of respect and gratitude to the parents and elders, as the couple offers tea to them in exchange for blessings and well wishes. This cultural practice adds a layer of depth and meaning to the wedding, connecting the couple to their heritage and respecting their family’s values.

It’s incredibly fulfilling to preserve those traditional moments, knowing that my work allows the couple and their families to relive the happiness of their special day for years to come.

“House of AU, where moments unfold — capturing all the glitter & gold.”
