Today we’d like to introduce you to KP.
Hi KP, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born and raised in Southeast San Diego. I was brought up in the Church. I started singing in the choir around the age of 7. I attended Longfellow Elementary, where I learned how to speak Spanish fluently. While attending Lincoln High School (GO HORNETS!) I took AP Spanish courses. After having my first studio session with my cousin who is a producer, I found a new love in recording music. I always loved writing poems, shirts stories, etc. Transferring those writings into music was so fulfilling. I always dreamed of one day being in the WNBA, but at some point, music took over. A song that my cousin produced and I sang on hit over a million views on YouTube. That was motivation for me to continue.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been far from easy. There’s times where I have writers’ block for months at a time. Being an independent artist and funding everything can also be a struggle. Saying merchandise is key to being able to reinvest in your craft. My guy Ryan Anthony really instilled that in me. My biggest goal is learning how to record myself. It’s a great investment in yourself, and in the long run you’ll save a lot of money.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an up-and-coming singer/songwriter and artist from San Diego, CA. I am most proud of the fact that I have always went after what I wanted. I’ve never been afraid to chase my dreams. I am mostly known for my singing and songwriting abilities. I believe what sets me apart from most is my personality, my gift of being to bring joy to others.
What do you think about luck?
“No, I’m not lucky; I’m blessed. Yes!” – Nicki Minaj lol
