Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Williams
Hi Lee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well we started Tasty Wax Records in 2021 as a recording space and art gallery. It morphed into cutting records later that year when we bought a custom German record lathe and an older 40’s Presto mono lathe. We’ve been cutting small batch records ever since for both bands and individuals who want their audio recordings cut into records.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely been a learning process. Lots of research and development. It’s a science really and took a lot of trial and error. But eventually we found our formula and have been growing ever since. Always expanding our options and possibilities.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’d say we are always trying to expand the artistry of records themselves. Trying to make them look and sound unique. Making wooden hanging art pieces that play as records. CDs that play as a cd and a record. Lots of one of a kind painted records and picture discs. Records cut out of X-rays. Weird oddities and collectible conversation pieces.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We believe in manifestation and positive vibes… but dumb luck has definitely been in both of our favors.
