Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Bates.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my career in the beauty industry in New York City as an assistant and worked my way up as a Master Stylist/Colorist. I was fortunate enough to train under amazing stylists in New York and LA. After years of hard work and refining my craft, I’m living my dream job as a hairstylist in Newport Beach.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It wasn’t always a smooth road. Starting out in the industry, I worked long hours and weekends, swept hair, got coffee, went to classes, and did lots of free hair to get my work out there. I moved from New York to LA wanting to work with and learn from best. By staying dedicated to my craft and taking every opportunity presented to me, l was able to build a successful career as a hairstylist in Orange County.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a hairstylist that specializes in Balayage and dimensional color. I’m specifically known for my blonde transformations.
What sets me apart from others is my passion for creating unique and personalize styles that reflect each client’s individual personality, and preferences. Not everyone wants the same blonde highlights as everyone else. That’s where custom color comes into play. I can pack a punch with minimal foiling. Or I can completely transform a brunette to a blonde. I am constantly pushing myself to learn and grow as a stylist. Keeping up with the latest trends and techniques in the industry.
I am proud of the strong relationships I have built with my clients over the years. Whether it’s for a job interview, engagement, birthday, or even just a fun night out with friends, I am there to help them look and feel their best.
Any big plans?
Right now, my future plans are to keep expanding my knowledge and staying up on the latest hair trends and techniques. I am excited to continue mentoring and pass on my knowledge to the next generation of hairstylists.
