Today we’d like to introduce you to Maylynne Rayos
Hi Maylynne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2015, I was overworked and undervalued at a job that took so much energy out of me. I had zero work life balance and really felt like my job was my life. After one stressful day at work, I decided to take a rhythm spin class for the first time. The class was so emotional for me. I reflected on how I was spending my time and reevaluated what made me happy. I looked at the inspiring instructor and decided… THIS. THIS would make me happy.. to teach fitness. After several auditions, I landed my first spin class gig, and then eventually a barre gig, and the rest is history. I now own my own Fitness Events business, teaching free and ticketed community events throughout San Diego.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road to success is ever smooth, and I still feel like I’m driving down that road. There have been many struggles and many doubts. So many times I wanted to quit — worried about whether or not people would attend my events every time I planned one, worried about whether or not people would enjoy my classes. It took a long time to realize that I don’t have to be everyone’s cup of tea, but that I will be SOMEONE’S. And one person is enough to make it worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Full-time, I am a Director of Talent Acquisition for an EdTech company. I LOVE my full-time job. I love connecting people to opportunities. Fitness has been my side business and passion project. I specialize in spin, barre, HIIT, and strength. I’m most proud of being able to offer free events occasionally, as I believe everyone has a right to access health and wellness.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memories have always involved family. I have 20+ first cousins (on my mom’s side alone) and we all grew up together. They have been my very first friends and they continue to support me in my adulthood.
