Rising Stars: Meet Melissa Biador of Chula Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Biador.

Hi Melissa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been someone who enjoys building things and following what genuinely interests me. I’ve been an entrepreneur for over 13 years and still run my photography business, which really taught me how to connect with people, create personalized experiences and run a business from the ground up.

I’ve also always loved the beauty industry. I worked as a makeup artist years ago and skincare has always been something I was drawn to. Over time, my interest shifted from just how skin looks to understanding it on a deeper level — how lifestyle, stress and overall health affect the skin.

That naturally led me into becoming a facialist, especially with a holistic focus. I love taking a more whole-person approach rather than just treating the surface. It feels like a perfect blend of my creative background, my entrepreneurial experience and my passion for skincare. At this point, I’m doing work that feels really aligned and meaningful to me and I’m excited to keep growing in this space.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not a smooth road — but I think that’s been one of the most valuable parts of the journey. Being an entrepreneur for so long, I’ve learned that there are always ups and downs. I’ve had to navigate uncertainty, wear a lot of different hats and figure things out as I went, especially in the early years.

Transitioning into skincare also came with its own challenges. Learning a new side of the industry, investing in education and building confidence in a hands-on practice took time. There were moments of self-doubt, especially balancing multiple businesses and trusting myself to shift directions.

That said, each challenge taught me something — patience, adaptability and the importance of staying aligned with what genuinely feels right. Those experiences are a big reason I’m grounded in my approach today and able to show up for clients with more intention and empathy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the core, I’m a holistic facialist who focuses on skin health rather than quick fixes. My work is centered around understanding the skin as part of the whole body, so I look at things like lifestyle, stress, habits and long-term goals when creating treatments for my guests.

I specialize in customized facials and results-driven treatments that still feel nurturing and grounding. I’m known for taking my time with clients, really listening and creating an experience that feels personal instead of rushed or cookie-cutter. People often tell me they feel seen and cared for, not just treated.

What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my guests. Many of them come to me feeling frustrated or disconnected from their skin, and being able to help them rebuild confidence — both in their skin and in the process — is incredibly meaningful to me.

What sets me apart is the combination of my holistic approach and my entrepreneurial background. I bring intention, consistency and a strong guest experience into everything I do and I genuinely care about long-term results and relationships, not just one-time treatments.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My biggest advice is to be patient with yourself and stay consistent. It takes time to build confidence, skill, and a loyal client base, so focus on learning, asking questions and really understanding the why behind what you’re doing.

I also wish I had known earlier that connection matters just as much as technique. Always remember that guests will remember how you made them feel. Being present, listening, building trust goes a long way and those moments are what keep people coming back.
