Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Sandoval.
Hi melissa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Intuición Café started from a deep love for coffee, community, and creating meaningful experiences around a simple cup. What began as a passion for specialty coffee and hospitality slowly evolved into a vision of bringing café-quality drinks beyond traditional coffee shop walls and into spaces where people gather to celebrate, connect, and work.
In the early days, I focused on learning everything I could about specialty coffee—from sourcing high-quality, organic Colombian beans to dialing in recipes that felt elevated yet approachable. I wanted every drink to be intentional, balanced, and memorable. Starting small, I invested in the right equipment and built a mobile coffee cart that could deliver the same level of quality and care you’d expect from a brick-and-mortar café.
As word spread, Intuición Café began serving weddings, corporate events, schools, and private gatherings throughout Southern California. One of our biggest milestones was successfully catering large-scale events—serving hundreds of guests efficiently without compromising quality. That experience shaped the systems, service flow, and team culture we have today.
What truly sets us apart is our focus on the experience. From thoughtfully curated menus and seasonal flavors to custom branding and warm, welcoming service, we aim to make every event feel special. Over time, we expanded into bottled lattes and nationwide coffee bag sales, allowing people to enjoy our coffee even when we’re not on-site.
Today, Intuición Café is a growing mobile coffee brand rooted in intuition, craftsmanship, and hospitality. I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but even more grateful for the community that continues to support and grow with us. At the heart of it all is the same goal we started with: to create moments of connection, one beautifully made cup of coffee at a time. ☕️
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road—and I don’t think most meaningful businesses are. One of the biggest challenges early on was wearing every hat at once: barista, marketer, scheduler, accountant, and customer service all rolled into one. Learning how to balance creativity with the logistics of running a business took time and a lot of trial and error.
Another challenge was scaling without losing quality. As demand grew and events became larger, I had to build systems that allowed us to serve hundreds of guests efficiently while still maintaining the level of care and consistency that defines specialty coffee. That meant investing in equipment, refining workflows, and trusting others to uphold the same standards.
There were also very real logistical hurdles—early mornings, long event days, traffic, weather, and the unpredictability that comes with mobile service. Those moments taught me the importance of preparation, flexibility, and grace under pressure.
Financially, growth required thoughtful reinvestment. Choosing when to say yes to opportunities—and when to wait—wasn’t always easy, but it helped shape a sustainable business instead of a rushed one.
Every challenge has strengthened the business and my confidence as an owner. Looking back, the struggles weren’t setbacks—they were lessons that built resilience and clarity. They reminded me why I started in the first place and pushed me to create something that’s not just successful, but intentional and lasting.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Intuición Café, I specialize in creating elevated coffee experiences for events while staying deeply rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship. Our coffee beans are ethically sourced and imported directly from my home country, Colombia, where we work closely with local farmers to ensure fair compensation and environmentally responsible practices. For us, sustainability is a responsibility—each planted seed is a precious gift from the land.
Inspired by nature, our cherries are hand-selected, carefully processed, and roasted in small batches, resulting in fresh, high-quality coffee with intention behind every cup.
What sets us apart is the balance of ethical sourcing, thoughtful preparation, and warm hospitality. I’m most proud of building a business that supports farming communities in Colombia while creating meaningful moments of connection—one beautifully crafted cup of coffee at a time. ☕️
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Start small, stay intentional, and don’t rush the process. It’s easy to compare yourself to others or feel pressure to grow quickly, but building a strong foundation matters more than speed. I wish I had known earlier that consistency and patience are just as important as passion.
Invest in quality—from your product to your systems—and don’t be afraid to ask for help or learn as you go. You won’t have everything figured out at the beginning, and that’s okay. The challenges will teach you more than the wins ever could.
Most importantly, stay connected to your “why.” When things get hard, remembering why you started will keep you grounded and guide your decisions. If you lead with intention, integrity, and care for both people and product, the growth will follow.
