Today we’d like to introduce you to Mosaic Light
Hi Mosaic, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Mosaic Light started off in 2023 as me (Ricky) showing songs I’ve made while learning how to use Ableton to my cousin (Elijah) and friend (Nhomas). We decided to buy an electric drum kit so we could jam and found out that Nhomas was naturally good at rhythm and timing despite it being his first time playing drums. Elijah had always prioritized lower tones so naturally, he took interest in Bass.
They both got good pretty quickly, so we decided to have our first performance at our local skate shop, Urbn Sk8. We had an Alesis drum kit and used a spare amp for the mic.
Eventually we found a lead guitarist (Damien) while I was in my high school’s marching band. Since then, the band’s sound has only gotten better.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
About a year ago, we spent a HUGE amount of money on a studio that didn’t do much for us. We eventually found our right fit at Twin Star Studios in Santee (thanks emma!)
Like every band, we’ve definitely had our fair share of struggling to find good opportunities for shows and stuff, especially when starting out.
As of now, we’re looking for a bassist since our current bassist is planning on going to college elsewhere.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We started off making indie, jazzy music. But as of late, we’ve been making more shoegaze and post-hardcore ish music. Thats just what happens when music preferences evolve.
One thing we’re most proud of is playing at HotSpot Flea Market pop-ups a couple times, they’re really nice people 🙂
We’re currently working on pushing out some singles before releasing an EP early 2025.
