Today we’d like to introduce you to Mustafa Fermawi.
Hi Mustafa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
When I was very young I was very shy and kept to myself a lot. I found an outlet to express myself within video games! as I got older I really wanted to understand how they did what they did and be the best at all of them! well, one thing came true and I learned how they did what they did. Haha. video games were more than a game to me. they were a community that most people, still to this day, do not understand the power that resides within it!
I was at peter piper pizza knowing that I would not be getting the new n64. out of nowhere I get handed a massive box and low and behold it was the console!! moments later everyone attending the party started to hand me smaller boxes and they had gotten me all the games possible! it was history after that!! videos games for me became a very important part of my life very very fast! I was so intrigued by how I could make a little man jump around and do what I want and how the internals of the console worked!
I quickly found a broken n64 from someone in the neighborhood and took it apart to learn. I wanted to know more and more! I then saved up to get a GameCube and could not afford a memory card so I kept that GameCube on for months so I would not lose my Spiderman completions. Haha. I was very involved in games such as Need4speed (lean back!), Slugfest, and so many more!
At 15, I wanted an Xbox so bad but my parents said we could not afford it and this conversation happened in a grocery store called sprouts in-front of the cashier so she said “would you like to work here and save up for it?” and I said yes! after a few months later I finally got my Xbox and quickly became one of the best in my community in halo and cod! I could not get away from it! my friends would challenge me every week and let’s just say they would regret it. Haha.
Once halo 4 came out, I was in college and my best friend and I stood in line at GameStop overnight! we were number 1 and 2 in the city to get the game first the following morning! new stations were trying to ask us questions but we were sleep deprived and ready to play so we just pushed past them. we then spent the next 72 hours playing straight and beat the campaign around 4am that same night! we became some of the best in the business in the BR gameplay. let’s not forget the best part of the game! gun game!
Once the ps4 came out it was a very tough decision to make the switch from Xbox to Sony but let me tell you it was well worth it! my ps4 came with the new spiderman and it was one of the best games I have been lucky enough to play!
Shortly after, the game I consider to be the best game I have ever played, the last of us came out and I was moving to the bay area for a while so I had to preorder it to the bay GameStop and stand in line there the morning after arriving! everyone was doing meet and greet at the mothership of apple while I was grinding last of us in my hotel room for days with the lights off!
Now what came after that I wish I could have expect but would never have known. I was never a fan of the GTA lines but when GTA v came out I was obsessed. I still love and play the game to this day!! I put in night after night to have it all in that game and actually got all the trophies which I was super proud of!! that game took many years out of my life and let me say it was worth it!
Years go by and then Fortnite comes out. I was willing to do anything to play just “one more” game with the boys every night. Haha. that game took the world by storm!! I quickly became a very good sniper but could not figure out how to become the best builder! I started to play warzone shortly after as well and quickly became even more obsessed with the BR lifestyle! to this day I cannot get away from the game.
I always loved the competitiveness of gaming and how it brought my friends and I together. it has kept my lifelong friends who live all over the world connected and be able to catch up on life as we accomplish something virtually. I always admired everyone I saw that took gaming to the next level and made it into a career and how lucky they were to have the support and backing with the journey they inspired to go on! one day my girlfriend saw how much time and effort and heart I put into it and suggested why don’t you stream as well and make it into a career? I thought no way. I have wanted to do that all my life but it is such a big risk to take and I have never had a backup plan like more do to fall on if I failed with the risk of that career.
After a few more conversations, I took the leap and started to stream almost every night and sometimes on weekends 12-14 hours a day! I compete in many tournaments now weekly and have built a very strong, intuitive, welcoming, and friendly community we call the moose lodge! people connect within it and take care of each other as if they had known each other all their lives. it has really filled my heart to see what I wanted to make happen come to fruition. don’t get me wrong playing and watching video games is such a large part of it as well! but the connections made and the support that has come through the moose lodge is really unmatched! I am so humbled with what has come out of this community and so excited to see it grow to its full potential! I hope to be able to reach people all over the world and connect within the gaming community and to grow The Moose Lodge every day!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Streaming and gaming has its ups and downs! You learn a lot very fast about who you are and who your true supporters are. The only person that really supported me was my girlfriend while most of my friends made fun of it all. You really do find out who cares about themselves more than their neighbor so to say. It was really mind blowing to experience all of these people that I have never met in real life in my streams supporting me and cheering me on while people I have known for years just laughed at what I have created with The Moose Lodge. It honestly broke me at one point and I had to learn to grow and let the ones who hold you down fall off as you move forward.
Personal growth really happens fast within it all! I learned so much about computers, when I already knew a lot. You really don’t have anyone to lean on with it all and have to take it on yourself. It is such a fun exhausting journey and people do not realize it is so much more than gaming. And sadly most will never know that but it is my goal to open their eyes and minds to something they do not understand! Technology failures are something that really set things back! You need to have two of everything sometimes to be ready in case you need to swap things out. These days it is tough to get certain parts too so you need to be resourceful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I stream almost every night video games and built a community that is growing at a rate I never expected it to! I specialize in making people smile and being there when they need an ear. I am known for always having a massive smile and a positive attitude! I always find the good in people and will make sure that shines within them. I am most proud of myself for not letting others bring me down and for building something that I could only dream of as first. What sets me apart from others is I have such an infections personality and smile that it is impossible to have a conversation with me without smiling and knowing you have made a lifelong connection.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that is surprising that most people might not know about me is that I will never stop pushing forward and will not let settle for “good” or great”! I always shoot for the most amazing outcome and will make sure anyone on that train is take care of for life with me.
