Rising Stars: Meet Osceola Dubois

Today we’d like to introduce you to Osceola Dubois.

Osceola “ O “ Dubois

Hi Osceola, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I am an artist, single father, veteran, and small business owner, and each of these roles signifies a significant chapter in my life’s journey. My family’s roots are in San Diego, following our time in Egypt and Istanbul, Turkey. Music, particularly Hip Hop, became the soundtrack that shaped many of my experiences, influenced by my oldest brother’s passion for the genre.

As the youngest of three boys, my early years were an exploration of self-expression through personal songs that mirrored the rhythm of my life. These vibrations led me to travel the country before ultimately returning home and joining the US Military. For the next decade, I served in Force Protection and Special Warfare in the Navy before embracing the role of a single father.

This monumental shift propelled me to The Art Institute of San Diego, where I majored in Media Arts, marking the beginning of my transition into content creation. After completing my education, I started working as a Junior Content Creator, overseeing Audio Production for Trilogy Media under the ownership of Von Ware. Additionally, I contributed to production grip work on set for Brett Altomare’s “Groovy Like a Movie.”

My experiences in commercial content production honed my skills and provided clarity on the baseline standard of work. A chance opportunity arose while freelancing for DiningOutSD Magazine, leading me to fill in at a Charity Black Tie Gala Event. This marked the beginning of my decade-long career as a premier luxe photographer specializing in capturing galas and personal branding.

Ni0 MEDIA, based in San Diego, distinguishes itself through my signature personal touch and news-like post-coverage of events. This unique approach sets us apart in the field and adds exceptional value. By offering detailed write-ups and presentations alongside event images, we create a more comprehensive and enjoyable experience for attendees. Ni0 MEDIA covers luxury events between San Diego and Los Angeles seasonally and is currently in pre-production for The LEGACY Podcast and Magazine, scheduled for release in 2024.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
1. Balancing Military Service and Parenting. I was in the service. I worked a 12-hour shift 5 days a week while my son (1 year of age) was on base with me at a preschool.

2. Transitioning from Military Life to Civilian and Academic Pursuits:

Transitioning from a decade of military service to civilian life was a challenging adjustment, and pursuing education was a shift in routine, lifestyle, and my personal mindset.

3. Navigating the World of Content Creation:

As a Junior Content Creator at Trilogy Media, it was challenging adapting to a new industry while handling their audio production, but it taught me many organizational skills that I use to this day.

4. Freelancing and Unpredictable Work Schedule:

Balancing freelance gigs while having a young child at home was very demanding, and it required me to be flexible and creative to do so.

5. Building a Photography Career and Entrepreneurship:

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?

Our role as a media partner extends beyond coverage to actively capturing the essence of C4K’s mission, and we find fulfillment in amplifying their causes. The unique quality we bring lies in that signature personal touch we spoke about. Our news-like post-event coverage and detailed write-ups have always created a more immersive experience for attendees.

Our approach to event photography and videography has been our dedication to adaptability, creativity, and attention to detail. Whether conducting interviews and capturing spontaneous moments or post-production editing, we strive to ensure that each project unfolds as a unique and memorable experience. What are your plans for the future?
In late 2024, Ni0 MEDIA is launching The LEGACY Podcast and LEGACY Magazine online in tandem, aiming to provide a modern take on storytelling and capture the essence of communities. It will serve as a dynamic audio space where the diverse voices come together, sharing their journeys, perspectives, and contributions to their respective fields.

Complementing the podcast, LEGACY Magazine will serve as a visual and literary extension, providing a tangible and immersive experience. It aims to showcase the rich tapestry of cultural, artistic, and entrepreneurial landscapes. Through compelling stories, vibrant visuals, and thoughtful commentary, the magazine’s voice will capture the spirit of unique legacies and the people who contribute to dynamic evolution.
