Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Addison
Hi Precious, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My dance journey began at the age of 5 in Houston, Texas. What started as a way to express my joy and creativity soon became my lifeline. As a child, I faced years of abuse, and dance became my escape—a space where I felt safe and in control. In those dark moments, dance gave me the freedom and strength I needed when everything else felt overwhelming.
When I turned 14, I realized how powerful dance was for me, and I wanted to share that with others. I started teaching because I believed that the healing and strength I found in dance could help others who may be going through their own struggles.
In 2018, I moved to San Diego, I made it my business to train with some of the best in the industry, and researched everything I needed to in order to truly hone in on my craft. During my time as a student I was ridiculed and shamed for being “too sexy” and outspoken. Which enhanced my motivation to teach others that you don’t have to fit a certain standard.. you don’t have to be afraid to embrace your sexy/sexuality. By 2020, I created Vulgar Body Language LLC and I began teaching adult heels classes. My classes are more than just about dancing in heels—they are about reclaiming power, finding confidence, and embracing our bodies, no matter what we’ve been through. For me, dance is still that safe space, and my goal is to help others discover the same strength and healing that dance has given me through the most challenging times in my life—both as a child and an adult.
In 2023, I launched VULGARBABE UNIVERSITY, a dynamic program designed to train dancers over a transformative three-month period. The core mission of VBU is to build a supportive community both on and off the dance floor, fostering an environment where dancers can thrive.
The primary objective of VULGARBABE UNIVERSITY is to enhance the confidence dancers need to succeed while providing them with essential dance tools, skills, and techniques. Participants are immersed in a nurturing atmosphere that encourages growth and empowers them to reach their full potential.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to where I am today has certainly not been the easiest for sure. In the beginning, I had little to no support from my family, which made it challenging to stay focused on my passion. Along the way, I also faced difficulties within the industry, including instances where others attempted to discredit my work and even take my choreography as their own. These experiences have tested me, but they’ve also fueled my determination.
Despite the challenges, I’ve remained committed to my vision. Today, I’m proud and blessed to have performed on stages, and in music videos and even choreograph for live tv shows. I’ve had the honor of working with and training over 200 dancers—both women and men— which has been a deeply rewarding experience. I feel truly blessed and I thank God that I’m able to be doing what I love, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to inspire and uplift others!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I teach heels dance classes where my passion is all about helping you feel sexier and more confident in your own skin. And not giving a —- about what someone has to say about it. I’m Known for my sultry, seductive movements, dynamically incredible hair whips, and my incomparable musicality in my choreography! I strive to create an unforgettable experience for each student of every level and our viewers.
What truly sets me apart in this field is my genuine personality and my deep commitment to my students. I believe in building strong bonds with them because, just as they support me, I am dedicated to supporting them. I truly care about how each person feels coming into class and how they leave—both in terms of skills and self-confidence.
My students aren’t just participants; they are family. Together, we create a warm, fun environment where everyone can express themselves freely, embrace their femininity, and celebrate their unique journey through dance.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
When it comes to pursuing your passion, my first rule is to stay humble. Follow your heart and remain true to yourself and your craft. Embracing the journey of continuous learning is essential, whether you’re in the studio or at home.
Every experience presents an opportunity for growth, so it’s important to keep that curiosity alive. Dance is not merely just about mastering techniques; it’s about expressing your authentic self and sharing your unique story with the world. Allow your passion to shine through, and always remember that staying grounded is what makes you truly remarkable.
One piece of advice I wish someone had shared with me early on is to trust your own discernment. Listen to your intuition, and don’t be afraid to carve your own path. Your journey is uniquely yours—embrace it fully.
