Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Murillo.
Hi Ruth, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started cooking salsas since I was small, I started with the green salsa because I love enchiladad suizas. I started Ruths No5 about 5 years ago, the concept was to bring the most authentic salsa to San Diego, I wanted to bring the flavors I from my table to yours, I know that there are many salsas to choose from however when you want traditional handmade salsa you can count that Ruths No5 can help you with that. We are not the best nor the only salsa in San Diego, we are just here to bring different options for your foods and your palette.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting Ruths No5 was pretty smooth, getting to where we are right now has certainly been a learning experience. however, I have meet people that have helped me in my growth and with their advice and talents, I have learn to make a stable salsa stand. Then we meet COVID, making it thru the Covid times has been a challenge by itself. I started doing free deliveries throughout San Diego, I did not wanted to be forgotten. I would not be here if I did not have amazing customers that wanted to support small businesses.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is 7 salsas I cook them all, I shop for every single one of my salsas that I cook from scratch. many resources come from our local farmers.
My specialties are Roasted Red Spicy salsa and Pineapple Salsa
I am mostly known for my Roasted Salsas and my sunglasses
I am proud of my roots; I am proud to say that I am born and raised in Tijuana BC by a mother from Sonora BCand a father from Mazatlan Sin.
what sets me apart from others is the flavors you are getting; they do not come out from a can they come from farms around San Diego County
