Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabree Gilkes.
Hi Sabree, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I was born in Pennsylvania but moved to California at 2 years old after my younger sister was born, I grew up in San Diego! I went MONTGOMERY High School and was a cheerleader. In high school, it was hard for me to find my voice even with being a cheerleader and it wasn’t until I moved to New Mexico after high school, I came to terms with my sexuality. I always had a love for fashion, modeling, acting, and content creating. My mom was a model and I always watched her working when I was younger. I came out as gay in 2019 and decided to start making videos on YouTube and posting outfit looks/ funny videos on TikTok as well. I want to use my platform to show people that it’s ok to be who you are and not to let anyone dim your voice. I always had trouble with that at a young age and felt like I missed out on things because of it. YouTube was an app that I fell in love with because of how people used their platforms to just be themselves and make people laugh and have a sense of community, I want to do the same thing. I just want to boost peace, laughter, fashion, and body positivity. I do this through the videos I make and boosting it through Instagram outfit looks.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe no one’s life is completely smooth but that’s part of the journey. I’ve had struggles with sexuality, anxiety, skin color and just being a young person in this ever-changing generation. But I believe all these struggles made me an even stronger person and even more grateful. I wanna teach that to the people around me as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Well, I love to act, draw, dance, etc. but I mostly live content creating. If I was known for anything I would hope it would be for YouTube and TikTok (@savagesabritas) I love vlogging about my daily life and making outfits to post and boost my fashion/love for pop culture while also boosting messages of self-love, body positivity and general good mental health.
What’s next?
Well, I recently moved back down here and hope to get into acting while also building reputation on YouTube/TikTok. I’m also planning to go college to get my associate’s in nursing and maybe a bachelor’s if life moves that way. Still kinda going with the flow.
