Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Cisneros
Hi Sandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
it all started 4 years ago , when I was planning my first granddaughter Victoria 1st birthday party. my daughter always dream on having a big celebration for her first baby , she didn’t had a baby shower due to pandemic ,I know it had to be a special celebration.
my daughter was looking for services but no luck. we had a big dilemma , we wanted to have snacks available as our guest arrived during the party and after the party. we are Mexicans we cant be short of food . I had an idea on building a cute cart and having that cart all the party. I started drawing a cart, designing it, spoke to experts on putting together this type of carts , no one seem to understand my vision since back them it was popular. I was looking for unique , didn’t want wood material. with help of my brother Pocholo ( rest in peace) he helped me and brought my vision to life.
the day of the party arrived and all family and friends were so in love with my cart that they started asking me for pricing, info. when I created my first cart my only vision was to use it for our parties not to start a business, my neighbor was at my party and she beg me to rent it to her since next week she was hosting a baby shower. and that’s how it started, word spread mouth to mouth recommendations, people frequently asking me to serve not only bringing cart, but service. it started with tostilocos now I offer 25 different snack carts services. I never imagine that putting together r a cute cart for my granddaughter party was going to take me this far in life. and it feels amazing .now I have a team , I had meet famous people, I have a long list of repeated clients. I had made many friends. I Love what I do and I cant imagine my life without this, this is my passion. when guest and clients tell me que ricoooo, that’s how my business started. when family tried my snacks the first words ay que ricoooo esta esto. best part of my business I’m able to give back to my community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
it hasn’t been a smooth road, there is a lot of requirements needed to have a legit small business specially food industry. that information is not out there. but with perseverance I was able to get all my documents in order, permits licensing my clients safety comes first. its also not easy because a business owner we work 24/7 this is not a side hustle, hobby . there is a lot of work behind the services we offer. with passion , love everything is possible. my clients and family are my biggest motivation.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I didn’t finish High School , my mom was a single mom I had a lot of siblings , she didn’t had the resources to keep me in school. I’m 54 years old and living my dream on being my own boss. I inspire my family on work hard and dream big. Im an emigrant to this country. thankful for the opportunities and amazing great people in my present and past.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
my advice to everyone out there is don’t give up. work hard, be unique , creative, think outside the box. concentrate on what works for you. and don’t forget to always give back.
