Today we’d like to introduce you to Snø Blvk
Hi SNØ, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up with humble beginnings. I didn’t live in the greatest neighborhood, and my mother wasn’t wealthy. But she was always rich in mindset. She was always a hustler.
When I was 7 years old, my grandmother was having a yard sale. I decided I wanted to create a lemonade stand that day since it was so hot. I remember the day like it was yesterday. My aunt took me into the store and we spent $8 exactly on everything for my stand.
I was selling my cups of lemonade for 50 cents a piece and I stayed outside for hours until my grandmother said the sun was starting to go down. I didn’t know what it meant to BREAK EVEN, I was just happy that I made $8!
That’s the earliest sign of my entrepreneurial journey. And it got greater from there.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is definitely not a smooth road. I believe it’s one of the hardest roads you could take because it’s so faith based.
In my earlier entrepreneur years, one thing I struggled with was branding. I didn’t really know how to “think outside the box”. My graphics that I created were just so basic, sometimes hideous. But I kept going and now I can create amazing different graphics on the fly!
You have to believe in yourself and basically be insane about your passion.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m mostly known for being a serial entrepreneur and makeup artist, but what sets me apart from others is my story.
I had my son when I was 16 years old, but I knew my story was supposed to be different. I knew I wasn’t supposed to be there stereotype the world would perceive me as.
I’ve been able to get far in life as a young mother. I’m mostly proud of that.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is when my mom and I were walking back home after dropping my little sister off at school.
She had a razor scooter that she would ride to school and I would ride it back for her.
I don’t know how I did it but, I convinced my mom that she’d be the SUPER mom if she could ride the scooter down the hill we were walking on.
She took the challenge and I felt bad immediately because once she got 1/3 of the way down, she hit a part of the sidewalk that was raised up and she fell off the scooter and rolled down the hill.
I still think it’s funny to this day but I felt so bad because she had a scratch on her shoulder. We still laugh about it too.
