Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawnie McBride.
Hi Tawnie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in California but raised in Utah and have lived all over but finally settled back here 3 years ago with my little family, I have my partner and I have 3 daughters who are my everything and they’re a lot of the motivation behind me going back to school to get my Esthetics license. I enjoy helping people feel confident in themselves so I jumped feet first and here I am! I didn’t miss one day of the 6 month program because I was so ready to take this step towards my future, but wouldn’t have been able to do it so well with out my amazing support system. This is industry is something I really have passion for, and worked hard to be here.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, having 3 kids, going to school full time and working around work schedules was always a challenge. I was a single mom for a few years before meeting my partner, I did what I could do to support my 2 children at the time. When I finally got the opportunity to be able to focus on me and not just be a mother and have full support, I jumped on it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a business owner at The Powder Room, who specializes in lashing and brow artistry! I’m proud that I’m always increasing my skills, always doing what I can to learn and be a better artist. I think what sets me apart from others is that I enjoy connecting with my clients on levels to make them feel safe and heard. I’m always following up on my clients and communicating each step of the services I provide.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Stay confident, find others to connect with to have support when the days are slow and things seem hard. Takes nearly 3 years to get to that sweet spot you know you’re meant to be in.
I wish I had more marketing ideas. Finding someone sooner to bounce ideas off of helps!
