Today we’d like to introduce you to TayzerThaAmazer.
Hi TayzerThaAmazer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started off doing music as a young teen, born and raised in San Diego California in the Spring Valley area. I was a troubled teen so I did a lot of going in and out of the Juvenile Detention Facilities. I went to La Presa Middle School from 6-8 grade then graduated to Mount Miguel High School where I started to fall short on my education because of poor choices. I started rapping and singing for fun and always dreamed of having my own record label. When I was 18, I recorded my first song in a home studio with a former friend who owned it. I then started to bloom an that’s when I knew I was going to be who I am today. I got discouraged at 20 because of lack of help and guidance every door I can imagine was shut on me and I couldn’t understand why so I quit. In 2015 I connected with a few family members who did music as well we formed a group Called DyffrentMindSetz based out of San Diego Ca. Over time we grew to be a recognized very quickly but we then went our separate ways for financial reasons and/or disagreements. In 2017 me and another member carried the group an add two new additional members and shorten the name to “Dyffrent” so we worked as a label and not as a group. We all have solo work and work we do together. We also launched a small clothing line that was not very successful but still building as we speak. In 2018 I had managed to get a very popular song called “Hop Out” on World Star Hip Hop which is one of the most biggest most popular websites for music in the United States. I then struck a label distribution deal with Empire Record for the label to make the label not only independent but able to put our music on bigger platforms, today I am proud to say that I’m still up and running the label called Dyffrent Entertainment and we are streaming worldwide.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was hard trying to brand myself in the right light with me being a woman in the hip hop scene and I’m LGBT it made it very difficult with little to no help. I used to get my sessions cut short because I could rap really good and the other artist was not too happy about it. I would get incomplete work from work I have paid for and finished I have gotten music lyrics stolen when I’d don’t know how to protect my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Lyricist and I also specialize in harmonizing, ghostwriting, artist development and I play a little guitar a little flute a little saxophone and I’m learning to play the drums. I’m also a Former student at San Diego State University for digital marketing
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love the most is that if you strive to actually work hard to put yourself out there you have so much opportunity here San Diego. By me being born and raised I’m a witness to that also love the sunny beach I’m able to sit down and look at the water write lyrics. I don’t like how the politics are when it comes to support great music but my great an your great might be different there are so many underrated artist an musicians who lack in financial help to get their careers up and running with no real guidance an no real support
