Rising Stars: Meet The Guest Room

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Guest Room.

Hi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
The Guest Room started about (5) years ago as a group of high school friends and musicians wanting to continue music performance after high school. The core members of The Guest Room had met in various phases of the K-12 experience but ultimately developed our passion for music performance together in high school marching band. That like-minded passion has brought us to where we are today: writing, recording, and performing music!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Early on, most of our struggles came from determining our sound and “vibe” as a group; what makes us who we are, is our eclectic and varying musical influences and how we join those into one sound. In a world where everyone has access to recording equipment and software, and tens of thousands of songs are released for streaming every day, we had to key in on the things that make us unique and authentic.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Guest Room is a (4) piece instrumentalist quartet, and we invite “Guests” to collaborate with us (i.e., Adison Maxwell, Alyssa Armendariz, Annamarie Rosanio, Andrea Moreno, and soon to be more!). We write, record, produce, and perform original songs in a small variety of genres centered around “Bedroom Soul” with other singers/collaborators. As we continue our music careers, I think we stay proud of our ability to stay true to having fun and creating chill, welcoming songs. I think our sound versatility and live musicianship sets us apart from some of our same-aged peers.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
San Diego is home to some of the most eccentric and creative people we have ever met. I think a major strength of San Diego is its diverse scene of artists and creatives; every experience we’ve ever had with a local artist has been so welcoming and supportive. Honestly, we haven’t had many negative experiences in San Diego!
