Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Duarte.
Hi Trevor, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I live in a small town in Central California that doesn’t offer many sights and scenery for photography, so I tend travel a lot for pictures I want. That is why my Instagram Feed is filled with pictures from all over! Right before my trip to San Diego, I was in Chicago for a few days prior vacationing with my parents. I think it’s interesting to travel and create art in places that you are unfamiliar with. I’ve been all up and down the Coast of California, as far East and New York, and few spots in-between. Life is a journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m constantly learning something new when it comes to photography, from an editing style or how to properly position myself for a shot I want to take. My newest endeavor has been flying a drone around the cities I visit to capture a new angle I’ve yet to discover.
Life is about learning, and it doesn’t get old.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I picked up photography as a way to capture and create memories on trips I was taking with friends. To me, what seemed to be something simple and a hobby, quickly turned into a unique business opportunity unexpectedly. I’ve had the opportunity to take pictures of friends for graduation, concerts for some friends I’ve made, and the biggest opportunity of a few weddings. I had to learn quickly how to balance all the new learning aspects and editing styles to match the type of shoot I had for that day, but that’s what makes this fun and worth it. I’m proud I’ve said yes to the opportunities given to me and appreciate those that took the chance on me while I was still learning along the way.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid for me was a step back in a sense, wasn’t doing much traveling in the beginning a lot of just staying home and planning my next trip. Once things kind of cooled down, I was able to get some trips in and create again, something as a simple as a day trip to San Francisco or a week trip to New York and everything in between. I just want to create.
