Shavona, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I’m incredibly proud and honored to have received the BBB Torch Awards of Ethics in 2024. This recognition means so much because it reflects the core values that have guided my business from day one; integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to serving others with care and respect. I’m also deeply humbled to be recognized as a Marquis Who’s Who Listee. To be acknowledged in this way is not just a personal achievement, but a reflection of the passion, purpose, and dedication poured into every part of this journey. These honors remind me that staying true to your values does make a lasting impact.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shavona Holmes and I am the owner of Steam Sistahs LLC. I started this business because I saw the real benefits of this all-natural wellness treatment and felt called to share it with others who could truly benefit. Steam Sistahs provides all-natural wellness treatments through the practice of steaming. Since becoming a BBB-accredited business in 2021, we’ve built a strong reputation for quality and care. Steaming offers a wide range of powerful, natural benefits that go far beyond what many expect. It can provide significant relief from fibroids and ovarian cysts, help prevent recurring BV and yeast infections, and ease the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. It’s also shown to support male infertility, making it a truly holistic wellness option for both women and men. These are just a few of the many ways steaming can support long-term reproductive and overall health.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
This business has given me so many beautiful opportunities to serve my community throughout these five years and connect with incredible people; some of whom have become lifelong friends. It’s been a powerful part of my healing journey, and for that, I’m deeply grateful. With that said, I feel at peace knowing it has served its purpose, and I’ll be closing my business at the end of the year to begin a new chapter in 2026.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Starting this business was my personal form of healing and therapy. After coming to terms with the heartbreaking truth that I can’t conceive a child of my own, I struggled to find peace. But through this journey, steaming became a way for me to reconnect with my body and my purpose. What I never expected was how deeply rewarding it would be to help others. I’ve had the honor of supporting several clients who went on to conceive naturally through steaming, and each one of their journeys has touched my heart. In a way, their joy has become a part of my own healing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
The misconception about steaming is that it’s only for cleanliness or achieving the perfect scent. In reality, steaming offers so much more. Steaming has been shown to support fertility, aid in low-maintenance deliveries, naturally regulate pH balance, and even provide relief for men suffering from hemorrhoids. It’s a powerful, holistic practice with a wide range of health benefits beyond what most people realize.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I believe my clients would genuinely miss the chill vibes and the great conversations we shared during our time together. It was never just about providing a service; it was about creating a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere where people felt comfortable, heard, and valued. Whether we were talking about everyday life, sharing laughs, or diving into deeper topics, those moments built real connections. That kind of energy and authenticity isn’t easy to come by, and I know it made a lasting impression on the clients I served.
