Smoke Dog of 760 on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Smoke Dog and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Smoke, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been actively playing baseball every Saturday and softball 2 times a week, it’s very fun and love being out balling with the boys.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Smoke Dog from San Diego a local hip hop artists, then I moved up to Oceanside and hosted a podcast for all local artists and talent called “The Mayn Event Show” it was fun and met a lot of amazing people. Worked for 89.1 fm with Dane sweet tooth on a local Cannabis info show. Then COVID happened a lot of things stopped but recently this year I started a sports podcast with my co host Victor Villa called “The SD Pods Cast” it’s been a fun transition from music to sports but I love it and it keeps me in the loops with all SD sports. Now that the Padres are in the playoffs I can’t wait for the next episode (which airs every Thursday night 7pm on the kick it labs YouTube channel)

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I felt I was always going to be in front of a camera in some aspect, from rocking the open mics around town, music videos, performing at December nights in Balboa Park..to radio shows helping other people get heard now to talking about sports it’s been a fun ride and can’t wait to see what’s next

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Well, even before covid if you try to become an artist in the knees are the same. I think everybody starts off as a struggling artist. It is not what you know. It’s who you know and sometimes that’s very discouraging, especially when you get put on the back burner for being new in the scene it was difficult but skill resilience and persistence definitely helped when it came to certain struggles.. everyone is there to be #1. I liked the challenge and very talented competition.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Just certain outlooks on life with social media being predominant in everybody’s daily routine now I feel some people don’t really appreciate other people’s opinions, whether it’s politics, their type of music, the way they enjoy themselves on their free time and I feel that’s what makes us all unique is cuz we’re all so different and I wish more people would appreciate other people’s point of views and not just hang around with people that agree with them. So-called Yes Men

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Absolutely nothing even if I had 10 days to live. I love where I’m at in life. I love what I’ve accomplished so far and I don’t see me slowing down unless fate has another option for me
