Story & Lesson Highlights with Anais Cruz of Lemon Grove

We recently had the chance to connect with Anais Cruz and have shared our conversation below.

Anais, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I had to really dig deep to find the answer to this. I would say I am walking, I feel like wandering would mean you’re headed somewhere unintentionally and without a purpose. And currently in my path of life I am walking it with a purpose. I am walking with my head held high and gathering all the knowledge and growth I possibly can.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi my name is Anais Cruz I a 25yr old solo esthetician & entrepreneur. I have been an esthetician for 4 years now I offer lash extensions, lash lifts and brow threading. I have built my business from absolutely nothing. I never had someone guide me through the process. I have done it all on my own through trial and error. I have truly put so much love, dedication and time into my small business. Seeing how much my small business has grown over the years only pushes me to keep going forward. I have become such a hard working dedicated person. Starting this path was one of the biggest
Leaps of faith I took. And I haven’t stopped since then because it keeps opening up doors for me.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I felt like a follower. I would never be the leader because it felt scary. I would always follow what others were doing. I also had the mentally that I had to do what everyone else was doing because I would look “weird” if I stood out or was doing something different. And now as a 25yr old I choose to be different. To not follow the norm and to do what I truly want. I want to stand out and not blend in with the crowd.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self “you are capable”
I would struggle believing in myself when I was younger. And I wish I would have believed in myself sooner because it has shown me once I believe in me I am capable of doing anything and everything I set my mind to.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
The person I admire is my grandmother Aurelia. I have been blessed with the best role model. From a young age I would spend so much time with her, and she always taught me to be nice to everyone in your path. To always look at things in a positive attitude. My grandma has always shown such a strong, positive and caring character. And I always do my best to carry myself in the same manner.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
As far my daily routine absolutely nothing. If I knew I only had 10 years left I would just want to travel and see more of the world. But I would continue to carry myself the same way. I would continue with who I am currently.
