Story & Lesson Highlights with Elaine Mascarenhas of Chula Vista

We recently had the chance to connect with Elaine Mascarenhas and have shared our conversation below.

Elaine, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing my dreams. Pursuing what truly makes me happy. At the same time, I’m dedicated to my personal growth, my business, my children, and my overall well-being. I embrace the journey I’m on and celebrate each small victory along the way. However, if I ever stop chasing these aspirations, my life won’t feel complete.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Elaine Mascarenhas, and I am originally from Brazil. I’ve called San Diego home for nearly 25 years.
Four years ago, I launched my brand, Deusa do Amor Collection. People often ask about the meaning behind the name, which translates to “Goddess of Love.” Each dress is one of a kind crafted from 100% upcycled silk, which is carefully hand-sorted in small batches by our skilled artisans, curated design by me.
By wearing Deusa do Amor Collection, women are encouraged to connect with their inner goddess, embracing their unique journey with confidence and grace. My inspiration for creating this brand: My entire existence is deeply grounded in the timeless knowledge of ancient goddesses.
These goddess symbolize various diverse aspects of nature, human experience, and the universe. Often embodying qualities like love, beauty, fertility, wisdom, and more.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Becoming a mother has deeply shaped who I am today, turning me into a more thoughtful and compassionate person. The experience of raising two sons has presented both challenges and joys to me, each contributing to my personal development and growth as a woman.
Every day, I am grateful for the gift of motherhood!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self, two important things: Firstly, Embrace your unique journey and know that every challenge you face is shaping you into the resilient and compassionate person you’re destined to become.

Secondly, when we are young, we act impulsively, without considering the consequences. I would guide my younger self to understand more of the importance of the law of attraction: Explaining how our thoughts and actions can profoundly shape our lives. And when you focus on positive thinking, gratitude, and the power of setting clear intentions, she would understand that we can draw more of what we truly desire into our lives.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! The version of myself that I present to the world, particularly on social media, is an authentic reflection of who I truly am. It’s a platform where I can openly share more about my life and express my emotions, allowing others to see the genuine aspects of my personality and experiences.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that when people remember me, they tell a story of a vibrant woman who was sincerely authentic and full of life, always appreciating every moment. I want them to remember how deeply I cherished and embraced life, and that my joy and enthusiasm left a lasting impression on them.
