We recently had the chance to connect with Jacqueline Fisher and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Jacqueline , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My Russian tortoise, Timothy, has been very active this summer and enjoys going on walks in the shade and sleeping on the couch. He loves to cuddle!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an award-winning screenwriter and jewelry designer. Through my empowering and enlightening stories, I champion pride in identity and advocate that our vulnerabilities are our greatest strengths, believing everyone has a story to tell. My whimsical and joyful outlook on life is reflected in my work. My scripts showcase how our world is innately funny in its absurdity, triumphs and trials. Not to mention, I love writing about unstoppable women who go after their dreams. Featured in notable contests, including the Austin Film Festival as a Virtual Pitch Finalist and a Semi-Finalist in the Emerging Screenwriters Thriller Screenplay Competition, I am currently seeking representation to bring my talents to a writers’ room. Additionally, I run the store, Whimsical Finds Shop, with my brother, Justin.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was acting on the stage. Some of my favorite roles I played in my childhood were Miss Hannigan in Annie, the Genie in Aladdin, Scar in The Lion King and Mowgli in The Jungle Book. There’s nothing like the joy of standing on a stage. Theater has the power to open people’s minds to new perspectives.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Not everyone is going to like you, and that’s okay. You don’t need to overcompensate to please other people. You are amazing as you are.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
The truth. Honesty, vulnerability, kindness and empathy.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Anything worth doing takes time.
