We recently had the chance to connect with Janine Haynes and have shared our conversation below.
Janine, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I am being called to help others on their health journey. Over the last two years I have personally gone on my own journey to a healthier me. I have lost 100 lbs and have reversed most of my health ailments through exercise, healthy eating habits and centering my soul.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Janine and I am the owner of Centered Life Holistic and Centered Life Fitness. My companies are all about the mind, body, soul connection to s as healthier and happier you. Right now I am working to build my career as a personal trainer and help others to live a healthier life. Where I am different from other trainers is that I include centering your mind and soul along with the physical body aspects of personal training. Getting our minds and souls in the right place is so important to a healthy body and weight loss. I teach positive self talk, because our bodies are listening. The body believes what you tell it. So always speak to yourself kindly. You will be amazed at the progress you can make with this one simple change.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I grew up in an abusive home life. Nothing I did was ever good enough and I was told that I would never amount to anything. I was told I was lazy and useless. I believed this to be true for most of my life. It took meeting my friend Brian to change my thinking. He saw my untapped potential and motivated me to pursue my interests and to never forget how amazing I am. I now know I am an accomplished person in many areas of my life. I have seen many successes and will continue to grow and find more success!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that you are able to achieve anything you put your mind to. I would tell myself not to let others and their words shape who I will be. I would also tell myself that self love is so important and not to lose it even when others make you feel unlovable.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friend would tell you that what matters to me most is helping others. My whole life has been in service to others. I was born to help. I was a preschool teacher for twelve years, a Program Director at a non profit for women that were unsheltered and had mental illness for 4 years and I am now a personal trainer. Helping others is the greatest feeling in the world.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am doing what I was born to do. I feel such joy helping others to reach their goals. To give others the feeling of hope to get where they never thought they could get. To help them grow their live for themselves. You see the person who loves themselves and centers their mind body and soul is better equipped to help others themselves. In life there is nothing more important than self love and supporting others.
