Jesse, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up early, make breakfast for my family and send them off to school and work, walk my dog, clean my yard and a little house work, head to the shop early and get to drawing or tattooing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jesse Mercado, I have been tattooing since 1993. I take pride in my work and my shop concrete jungle tattoo. I try my best to make all my clients feel comfortable and accepted, I don’t minimize their tattoo ideas, but I do give different designs to the idea they have giving them a choice before deciding on their final tattoo. I do all styles and specialize in making people feel welcomed at my shop.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was an orphan, often times sad and unwanted or so I felt. Once I opened my shop I had a sense of self, I felt like I belonged and that I was appreciated.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Drawing or spending time with my dog. We always had a dog growing up.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being kind and helping others, making everyone feel welcomed at the shop or at the carne asada, or bbq if that’s what you wish to call it

Working so much and spending more time with my family and pets.
