We’re looking forward to introducing you to Victoria Faith Tinsley. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Victoria Faith , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I would say my self identity is what I am most proud of building! The thing about self growth is that it is ever evolving. I think the ideology behind identity is so fascinating. So many people chase relationships their whole lives. Romantic or friendly ones, often overlooking the most important one you will ever have which is the one with yourself. The more you work towards shaping your ideal identity I believe the more you will get out of life and ultimately be a better partner and friend because of it! For a long time I didn’t like who I was becoming, I felt like a shell of myself for years. In rewiring my identity I fell back in touch with my creativity which has helped me tremendously on the road to building my business and personal brand and shaping a life and an environment that I love and I am proud of.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a youtuber and blogger, who primarily focuses on fitness and self growth. This year I launched my blog this sweet feeling to document in a very raw and real way my personal body and mind development. I absolutely fell in love with fitness by chance as someone who never lived an active lifestyle, I never could have imagined the benefits a fitness journey could give me. I feel in complete abundance. Clear and focused. Disciplined and dedicated. For the first time in a very long time.
The mental stamina that comes along with the dedication of a fitness journey is real. I just want to share my love of the gym, and share what it is taught me and what it will continue to teach me along the way. I am just getting started and I have never felt more excited for something in my life, my love of fitness has turned into purpose.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a creative before the world told me who to be. I know that now more than ever, I was created to create for the sake of creation itself. I have always had so many loves and outlets of expression- writing, photography, styling, and visual direction. I feel so at peace now that I finally have a place to call my own, my own little visual diary. A place to share inspiration and a place to stay true to myself as a creative.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failing! For some reason as a society we have been taught that failure is to be feared. I no longer see failure in the ways most may view it. I see it as a chance to grow, to take something as a lesson, as a blessing even. Failure to me is redirection, and I have found that there was always something to learn so that true growth can occur. That’s why I believe so deeply in self growth and identity work because it frees you from so many past beliefs and creates a reality that works for you not against you.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In fitness you truly have to be dedicated and determined if you have big goals especially in body building. There is this narrative that you can eat whatever you want and all you have to do is just work out really hard. I disagree and I think that once you understand the science behind food and fitness you will realize that the food is the fuel to building your dream physique and that it very much matters what you put in your body. Thats why I love strength training because I am in control and it creates this discipline in you that is so rewarding, of course you have to put in the work to become that version of yourself. I think people who are really into the gym understand just how powerful it is once you understand just how in control you are. It’s amazing to be so dedicated to something and to see the results, however it does take time and I think that’s why a lot of people fall off on their journeys. Fitness is not a game of instant gratification.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I will always regret not starting my journey sooner. I have been sitting on this dream for forever. I will say though that I am happy I am finally taking the steps to actualizing my dreams and there really is no point in “regret”. I know it is a human emotion but I take my years of holding back as a lesson to not waste a day in regret when you have the day to get something done, to be not only the dreamer but the doer.
