Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I always knew that my calling would be something that involved cultivating connections with people, bringing people together. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs and every year passing helped solidify the idea that I too would become a successful businesswoman, but the question was doing what? When COVID hit, I had a lot of time to explore ideas of what I might enjoy doing when our world finally got back “normal” if that was ever going to be. During the height of COVID, I felt a strong calling to open up a business even though the world around us was falling apart. I followed that calling and Better Boards by Brit transpired over the next few years through a lot of hard work, dedication, commitment, failure, perseverance, and courage. There were a lot of learning curves along the way and most days, I wanted to give up, but I never stopped believing in myself and each small victory turned into something bigger than I could’ve ever imagined.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the pursuit of happiness, there will always be struggles. What matters is how you persevere through them and fight for what you believe in! Personally and professionally, I am the same woman. Whatever life’s curveballs may be, I put one foot in front of the other and continue to work towards my goals and dreams no matter how dark it can get. I take all obstacles as learned lessons and use my knowledge to help others along their journey as well!

My name is Brittany Somers and I am the founder of Better Boards by Brit, located in San Diego. We specialize in catering charcuterie all over the San Diego region. We offer grazing tables, charcuterie boards, charcuterie boxes, and charcuterie cones/cups. We collaborate with our clients and help turn their visions into reality. That’s the beauty about the charcuterie business, flexibility to be what you want! We have created spreads for large corporate gatherings or miniature boxes for love birds on Valentine’s Day. We strive to make lasting impressions and leaving people better than when we found them. The charcuterie business has been good to us, giving us a sense of purpose and belonging in our community. When creating for an event we cultivate an environment where our clients feel welcomed, intrigued, and curious. We offer many different delicacies from all over the world that some may have never experienced before. We like to think of it as offering our community an opportunity to experience the world through our charcuterie. Our experience has brought many people together, from all walks of life and for that, we are most proud. Our most favorite part of this process has been getting to know our clients, there are some incredible people here in San Diego!
What are your plans for the future?
Currently, we are taking things day by day as our business is growing rapidly. We are working on rolling out virtual charcuterie workshops in the near future as well as building an official website.
