Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Jeraminas.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jamie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started in an esthetician school on my 19th birthday. I loved makeup and skincare products so I thought that becoming an esthetician would provide me with the skills I needed to work as a makeup artist through college. I quickly realized that it wasn’t going to be easy being a freelance makeup artist in 2006 so I finished my degree at Cal State San Marcos and thought my esthetic days were behind me.
Soon after, I was starting my family and decided working part-time as an esthetician would provide a flexible schedule for my family. I landed a job as the only esthetician at a medical spa where I was able to really dive into the clinical side of skincare. I realized then how rewarding touching faces and building relationships with clients really was. I enjoyed seeing my clients every month, watching their skin transform and their confidence rise.
During my second pregnancy, I suffered from severe hormonal acne. Even with the knowledge I had and the products, I had access too I was completely insecure about my skin. After my daughter was born, my skin still was always inflamed and I decided to reach out to other estheticians in my area to see if they had any products or services that would help. I remember thinking, “I don’t care about the price or the commitment, I just want my skin to feel better.” It was at this point when I decided to start Brio Skin Studio. If I felt like this, then other women probably felt like this too and if my skin was getting harder to manage as I got older then other women were experiencing changes and shifts in their confidence too, no matter what age.
I started researching modalities that had clinical studies to back up their machines. I wanted to offer services that had proven results and was worth the time and money for my clients. I rented a treatment room, started investing in education classes, skincare modalities and products that would create a relaxing environment. Soon after I decided to move into my own space in Oceanside and reinvent Brio Skin Studio to enhance the experience for my clients and manage a mom/work-life balance.
Now at Brio, you can heal your skin, your mind, and your body. I have extremely talented women on my team that provide services such as sugaring, acupuncture, cupping, massage, reiki, stretching and of course custom facial treatments for every skin type.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
At times, I struggled with the fact that I decided to pursue a career with my trade school education and not my undergraduate degree. I had to create an environment that provided me an income and also gave me the ability to be present with my kids. Sometimes, I felt like I was giving up a career of my own to be a mother but creating Brio Skin Studio has given me a creative outlet to have the best of both worlds.
Every business owner has to hustle. Juggling my responsibilities as a Mom of almost three young kids and deciding to invest our money into my business and into myself was a HUGE struggle. During renovations at the spa, my kids spent long days running around a demolished suite without a well-balanced dinner, most nights while my kids are winding down for the day I’m doing marketing and accounting (if I don’t have clients) but we get through every challenge and I’m excited to build a brand that focuses on a higher standard of client care and results.
Brio Skin Studio – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Brio Skin Studio is about the client first. We want to go on your skincare journey with you. As life changes and time passes our body also changes. Brio’s objection is to change and evolve with our clients. Elan vital (especially in Bergsonian philosophy) means the creative force within an organism that is responsible for growth, change, and necessary or desirable adaptations. This concept is what I’ve built my client focus on.
We specialize in custom treatments. Your facial is tailored to your skin type, your environmental surroundings, and your lifestyle. Giving the client the best possible results while keeping their budget in mind so they can continue to have regular treatments.
Brio Skin Studio is the only provider of the Oxygeneo Super Facial in Oceanside. This multistep treatment provides oxygenation from within, exfoliation, and skin rejuvenation, unlike any other modality. The Oxygeneo can be used on all skin types and creates lasting results.
Another favorite of our spa is LED light therapy. LED light therapy is underrated and understudied by most practitioners. The use of a medical-grade LED light device performed correctly with the correct coverage, purity, power output, and dose can treat scarring, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles and even pain. Brio Skin Studio proudly offers the clinical strength Lightwave LED therapy facial.
What I’m most proud of at Brio is what also sets us apart, the environment and energy in the spa. Although we are small, we have an amazing team of licensed professionals that all have the same goal and client focus in mind.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My definition of success is providing a level of service and care that keeps clients coming through our doors. When my clients tell me they haven’t felt better, they feel more confident or that they enjoyed their much needed “me” time in my spa, I’ve succeeded.
The great part about owning a business that offers “touch therapy” services is that if you’ve done your part as a skincare/body therapist then you’re rewarded with a returning client. These returning clients, in turn, fuel your business financially and the business success continues to build.
