Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Densey.
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Veronica. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Growing up in a military town as a child, all I wanted to be was a G.I. Joe. So when 9/11 happened my senior year, there wasn’t anything anyone could do to stop me from enlisting. Shortly after high school graduation, I left on my journey. I was living the life, a badass M.P. in an incredibly prestigious unit in the 101st Airborne Division, 551 MP Co. (Hooligans!). Then I got hurt, and my goals all came crashing.
Fast forward to 2006, I was medically chaptered out of the military, and I was hurt emotionally and angry. Hearing all the stories of the 22 Veterans that take their lives daily, I knew I needed to get this feeling under control. Then enters “Mack”; the most interesting character I have ever met, a unicorn.
So there I am, never having done yoga in my life, in the middle of an intermediate hot yoga class. Dying, unable to breathe, unable to “pose,” in tons of pain unable to vocalize all of the colorful words that were floating around in my brain. When Mack, the instructor comes along and saves me. He tells me about his time in the Core, his PTSD, and how yoga saved his life by teaching him to be still. He then tells me about massage and how it may be something that could help me cope. As a physical type of therapy where I can help others and myself simultaneously. So I tried it, loved it, held on to it.
I think I found my second calling. In 2009 I opened Nola San Diego, and haven’t looked back. Ten years in business, and I am at a point where I have an amazing team and clients who I adore.
Did I mention the Bachelors in Business Marketing and the three beautiful girls in there?! 🙂
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth… Hmm, definitely not.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Nola San Diego – what should we know?
Nola San Diego is a massage company that specializes in chronic pain. While we still are fully capable of doing the luxury spa work, we prefer to work in the realm of longer-lasting services. I have always believed in the power of the body, and I feel that massage is the absolute best tool in making the body feel good and work properly. If the body feels good and is working properly, then everything else falls into place. The person’s mood is better; their stress is down; they feel way less physical pain; therefore, they are getting the maximum use of their muscles and creates a beautiful quality of life. In some ways, I feel that that goes back to the 22 (veterans), maybe if there was a better way to tap in to the stress, emotional pain, hollowness we could make that number go down.
We’re known for our deep tissue as a whole, and each therapist is known to specialize in different things and unlike other places we like to send our clients to each other to make sure they get the best care. Oh, and our prices because we care about the client getting the bodywork, we keep them reasonable.
