Today we’d like to introduce you to Yolanda, Yo Jonesy Jones.
Yolanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m Yo Jonesy Jones lead singer, trombonist, and bongosero of Crowned Jewelz Band from Mobile, AL. I started the band in 2011 with my Brother hip hop artist Jaheem Hasaan. The original mission of Crowned Jewelz is to infuse our music with positivity and self-help motivation to inspire our listeners to become their better versions. Crowned are our thoughts, Jewelz are the Words we speak. Our motto is “Live in Peace “ #LIP. We are now a multicultural six-piece band. We perform cover tunes for weddings, balls, bars, and more. Our main focus is our original music . We perform festivals all over the south. Now I’m in San Diego, CA, my goal is to express the importance of having a positive mindset and choosing to speak words of positivity as well. I plan to perform at festivals here in the city, sharing my gifts with the locals.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a journey, I must say, and it’s still going. I’d say keep pushing no matter what. I’m now preparing to perform on a two-month tour in Kyoto Japan. So continuous work does pay off! Be genuine and have a vision. Stick to it!

I’m an entertainer. I dance, I play instruments, I rap, I sing, I love to ride the hoverboard while I do these things on stage. I’m known for riding the hoverboard and playing my trombone. I’m also known for my “Live in Peace “#LIP message. I think what sets me apart from others is that hard grind to evolve the music scene with positively influenced music. My message of being super (superwoman blues) is for all humans. I feel we should tap into our super self and live a life of greatness in all areas.
What advice would you give to someone at the start of her career?
Be faithful to what you believe. Be open to receiving newness. Be persistent. Have integrity. Always hold your values and morals high. Be your super self at all times, and when your frequency is low, mediate and find a place to do things you love. Smile hard because life is good! Live in Peace.
