Meet Eyga Mojus of Miss Mojus Production in City Heights

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eyga Mojus.

Eyga, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a Former Miss Grand South Sudan and top 10 Miss Grand International 2017, I turned six years of experience into a successful career, founding Miss Mojus Productions, which organizes and produces the state preliminaries for California and Nevada, and the Miss Mojus Academy, a full-service consulting business offering private coaching and group training to aspiring queens looking to become successful ladies in their everyday life, while also rocking their competitions.

I have also worked closely with Gloucester County NAACP, fundraising scholarship money for first-year college students. While also being part of the Kick Leuk Foundation, dedicated to saving children’s lives through fundraising towards finding a cure for leukemia. Which is 2017 earned me the award of Phenomenal Woman of Courage by the Gloucester County NAACP and US Senator Cory Booker.

My goal is to inspire and enhance lives through my program offering, being a firm believer that pageantry opens up a huge opportunity that enables a world of endless possibilities for driven young women to pursue their true passions and goals as professionals that want to better serve the community.

What were you like growing up? Personality wise, interest wise, etc.
I came to the USA as a refugee to start a new life. I felt so much pressure starting school for the very 1st time in my life as a 12-year-old, not being able to read, write, or speak any other language besides Arabic. So as a kid I was very shy, quiet and reserved, the complete opposite of who I am today. Growing up, I was what you would call a tomboy, and even though I helped my mother with house chores and taking care of my siblings, I would spend most of my time with my younger brothers playing basketball. I loved it, it was my happy place and it gave me balance while teaching me many valuable life lessons that I’ve carried into my pageant career.

I took a chance in my mid-20s when joining the pageantry world and it completely changed my life and turned me into a social butterfly. I am who I am now because of my past, but this opportunity has challenged me in ways I couldn’t imagine.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been far from smooth sailing! I was looking to rebrand my old business, but as I kept going further down the road, I realized my passion was elsewhere, so I decided to invest in a new venture much closer to my heart. It was then that I became pageant director for Miss Grand California & Miss Supranational California, as well as for the state of Nevada, and from there on, Miss Mojus Productions was born.

In the beginning, I was unsure of how to fund the vision I had created, and I still didn’t know what I was getting myself into by becoming a producer of two states, but my years of pageant experience had me very confident in my abilities, and I always kept in mind my ultimate goal to create a magical experience, not only for the contestants, but for everyone involved from judges to audience. So far, one of the biggest challenges has been our current situation with the pandemic, our California state pageant is on hold and scheduled to happen once there is public safety again. But we see this as an opportunity for the contestants to get more prepared and for us to put on a great show!
