Hi Michelle, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I was born in Tijuana, Mexico and moved to the US almost 11 years ago. I went to college, worked for corporate for some years, then got married and started a family with my high school sweetheart. When I became a mom, I knew I didn’t want to leave my daughter back at home to work somewhere but I still wanted to do something… So, I started baking, since I already had the basics because my mom used to bake cakes and my grandma baked for us all the time. I never took culinary classes but I do love to learn thru tutorials and blogs. One thing led to another and I found myself baking cupcakes and cookies for my family who where my first customers and supporters. Since then, almost 9 years ago, I’ve been baking and growing my lil business.

What motivated you to open your own business?
My daughters and a desire of wanting to do something to contribute in my household… I knew I didn’t want to work away from home, I wanted to be there for my daughters and husband as much as I could. I also wanted for my daughters to learn about hard work, dedication and believing in themselves with my example. I wanted my husband to feel proud of his life partner.
Why do you think customers like your product?
I think my customers like my product because it has a homemade flavor, they love my designs that represent our culture and our roots. Customers love new things and I’m always trying to bring new fun and creative designs for them to enjoy. I’m very honest when it comes to availability, my capacity to do certain designs, my limitations… And I think customers truly appreciate honesty. I always push myself to give my customers the best experience so they feel they can come back to me whenever they need sweets.

What do you think it’s important to consider when addressing customer’s needs?
Honesty, clear and concise communication, set realistic expectations and always have good manners. I love to make.my customers feel appreciated, respected and important because they are!
What would be three key aspects for building a strong customer-provider relationship?
Great communication Real expectations Building and retaining trust
