Meet Shilpa Pradhan of Color Shot Studio in North San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shilpa Pradhan.

Shilpa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My interest in art and creativity dates back to my earliest years in school. Without realizing it at a young age, I would spend hours drawing a world around me and get totally engrossed in it. Through drawing I developed a sense of attention to detail and observation. Pleasing color combinations, play of light & shadows, textures began to catch my attention before I knew it. That observation and analysis contributed in forming my artistic viewpoint.

My ability of observe and analyze has helped me throughout my life in numerous areas. Prior to working as full time photographer, when working as a System Analyst I possessed ability to understand client requirements and verbally communicate it to my technical team.

While working in the field of information technology, I continued my interest in Art by pursuing photography as a hobby. Eventually it became a passion and now I am working as full time professional photographer.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. After working almost 12 years in IT & 6 years in San Diego as a system Analyst, we moved to India for around 3 years, that’s when I quit my full-time job and started working as a full time photographer. Establishing as a photographer there was easy being in my own country and people. But we moved back to San Diego in 2014, that’s where my struggle started, establishing a network, marketing and generating a continuous stream of work is more challenging here. But when I look back, things slowly started falling into place, last year was quite good work wise and I am sure Color Shot Studio will continue to grow in coming years.

To capture the real moment, photographer should feel the moment rather than just seeing it. To be able to connect with different people, families and cultures is what I love most about my job! My clients making me feel part of your family when I photograph an important event for them is a great responsibility.

Their trust in my perspective when it comes to creating lifelong memories for you is huge! That’s why I like my photographs to be as authentic as possible, they should rightly reflect the essence of an event including all the details, people involved and efforts put together in execution!

I am known capturing the celebration as it naturally unfolds, without being noticed and disturbing the guests. And still delivering proper mix of must have posed & candid pictures is what sets me apart.

The joy of seeing all my happy clients lost in their photo gallery is my biggest motivation and that’s what helps to me stretch my creativity and outdo myself in every frame I click!

As company, I am proud say that most of my business comes from word of mouth and repeat business from existing clients. I am also able to create some amazing relationships which are way beyond a client-vendor relationship. This is just a third year in business and I have around 30 five star reviews on google!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I think I am blessed to be living and working in one of the finest cities in America, which is a great mix of everything a photographer could ask for. Amazing weather, beaches, mountains, architecture & most importantly people! This place is one of the top choices for couples planning a destination wedding.

There is nothing I dislike about this city! Since last 10 years we have been living here and we are proud to call it our home!
