Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Martinez.
Hi Alejandro, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My family and I moved from Mexico to the U.S. when I was about 7 years old. Being a first-generation immigrant and seeing the struggles that are associated with it, I made it my life’s goal to hopefully one day attain the “American Dream.” The “American Dream” can have many definitions depending on who you ask, but for me, it meant having an education necessary to help other immigrants with less opportunities than myself. I became a legal permanent resident of the U.S. at about 14 years old and then a naturalized U.S. citizen in my early 20s. Having the appropriate immigration status gave me the privilege to apply for financial aid and obtain my bachelor’s degree. I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and now work for one of the biggest automotive companies in the world. However, obtaining my own career was only one of my goals. While working as an engineer, I met someone that would help me reach my version of the “American Dream.” That was when I met Kathleen Martinez, now immigration attorney and founder of Martinez Immigration. Both Kathleen and I have worked tirelessly with the support of our team to help reunite families with their immigration needs. We have also started an immigration paralegal program for aspiring paralegals looking to advance their career and contribute to the immigrant community.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been the easiest. Aside from the challenges that come with obtaining an immigration status, the financial part of life in this situation was always a struggle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My company (Virtual Firm Consulting) offers an immigration paralegal program for aspiring paralegals and even attorneys looking to advance their careers and contribute to the immigrant community. I am the CEO of this company alongside my wife, attorney Kathleen Martinez, who is COO, and we both created this program to be extremely tailored to U.S. immigration. We differ from other paralegal programs in that we specialize in teaching our students the very definite details of what it takes to be an immigration paralegal. More so, we made this service extremely affordable as well as offering payment plans for those needing that extra financial help. Our program is 100% virtual and can be taken from the comfort of your own home anywhere in the world.
