Meet Jazmin Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmin Sanchez.

Jazmin Sanchez

Hi Jazmin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi! My name’s Jazmin. I grew up in El Cajon with two sisters and the most supportive parents. When I graduated from high school, I was going to school to become a psychologist. But then I got pregnant at 19, and I completely changed my plan. Jae made me grow up real quick and get my shit together. She’s honestly the best thing to ever happen to me. I met Benji when I was 21, and he’s what brought me up to Oceanside. I started working at LTH when I was 22. So, I became a therapist that gives you booze… not too far off from my original plan🤭. Gabe really let me grow within the company and gave me the creative freedom to run that bar the way I wanted. I loved being able to mess around with flavors. I’ve always been very artistic and love to create things. That’s what got me into learning how to make jewelry. I never went to school for silversmithing. Me and Benji just geeked out watching a lot of YouTube videos and watched our friends Nick and Olivia when they’d work on pieces, and just learned! We instantly fell in love with it and created Silverpass_Co. It’s quite therapeutic working on each piece. And we loved challenging ourselves with new designs. We’re such perfectionists, so pieces took longer than we wanted. But it was so worth it! So, I was a mother, wife, bar manager, and now silversmith. You’d think that’d be enough on someone’s plate… But then, at the end of 2022, I started going down a fitness path. I was an athlete growing up, playing soccer. Never really did much more than that. So, the gym world was completely new to me. I started working out at SweatDreams, and it completely changed my life. I grew confidence and strength I didn’t know existed in me. I started doing stuff I never ever thought I’d be capable of doing. Pull-ups?!? 42” box jumps?!? Like, who the hell am I?!? I now am a trainer at SweatDreams and I enjoy every second of it. I remember the feeling I got after every accomplishment. And I get that feeling every time I see someone reach a goal or an accomplishment they’ve been working towards. No matter how little. There’s really no better feeling than helping people become their best selves. Well. That’s me. A mother, wife, bar manager, silversmith, and a fitness trainer. And I wouldn’t change my crazy life for anything in the world.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest struggle along the way has been my time management. Making sure I’m not spread too thin and making the adjustments when I see it’s needed. Being a mom first has always been my priority!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve been lucky enough to succeed in my 3 crafts. I say luck… but I’ve worked my butt off. I’ve bartended at LTH for 10 years now. I’ve met so many people along the way and have made my best friends here! LTH is probably what I’m most known for in the community. And I couldn’t be more grateful for the people it’s brought into my life. I’d say the jewelry pieces me and Benji created for Silverpass_Co set us apart from other jewelers. We always tried to make such unique pieces, and since each piece was one of a kind, it made it that much more special! What I’m most proud of is my fitness journey. Not because of my own growth. But because of the people who have said I inspired them to start their own journey… that’s really the most gratifying part.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that Oceanside feels like a small town without it being a small town!
