Check Out Nicholas Fiorentino’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Fiorentino.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Meatery was started in 2020. In 2019, after my honeymoon, I had visited an Italian steakhouse that had an incredible seasoning. When I was locked in my apartment during COVID, I began playing around with steak seasonings and decided to form a spice company. I was almost ready to launch the business and bought some Wagyu to try my seasonings on, and I quickly realized that this was a much better product to sell than inexpensive seasonings. I began selling meat myself, and 5 years later, we are one of the most recognized e-commerce retailers of high-end protein. We are also the #1 rated butcher shop in all of San Diego according to Google Maps.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course it has not been a smooth road. Learning how to ship efficiently across the country has been an incredible challenge. The marketing is also not easy, however, because that is my background, I think I have a little bit of a competitive edge at times. To boot, I never decided to raise money until a year ago, and because of that, we have been a bootstrapped and very organic growth company. With that said, I would not take back the way we have done things, and I am excited for our future.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have been a marketing executive for 20 years now. Prior to forming the Meatery, I was involved in consulting in the private equity and venture capital world. I am most proud of the authenticity that our brand has, and without a doubt, that we have built something that customers truly love.

What were you like growing up?
I was an avid golfer growing up and still am to this day. I have always worked tirelessly to get to my goal, and I have golf to thank for that. I am both introverted and extroverted. I enjoy the conversations that I have with our customers, but I also love quiet alone time.
