Check Out Lea Love’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lea Love.

Hi Lea , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up Polynesian, music wasn’t just something we listened to—it was woven into our culture, our family gatherings, and our way of expressing who we are. I started singing and performing at a young age, and over the years it naturally grew into a passion and a career.

I’ve had the privilege of touring with some of Island reggae’s best, and those experiences shaped me not just as an artist, but as a person. Being on the road, watching how seasoned musicians connect with people, and learning from their stories and discipline has been invaluable.

I’ve released both original music and classic covers, always adding that reggae twist that feels true to where I come from. And even as life evolves and new chapters open, music remains at the center of everything I do. It’s my grounding force, my way of storytelling, and a piece of home I carry with me everywhere.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wouldn’t call it a “smooth road”, but I wouldn’t change the journey for anything. I’ve always known singing was a passion of mine and it wasn’t until towards the end of high school I decided I wanted to sing and travel full time. I was determined to make a career out of it. There have bay challenges through out my career. Lot’s of people doubted that if this could be a sustainable job, but I didn’t care. I was going to chase my dreams until it no longer brought me joy.

I struggled with comparing myself to others, the self image and always being on stage and putting myself out there. I also struggled with the consistency. Year after year hearing “no” or ‘you’re not ready yet” and having to pick myself up and carry on. There is the business aspect of things. More important than the actual creative process these days. I have learned so much through trial and error and it’s only made me stronger and smarter.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer/songwriter. My main market is Island Reggae/R&B. I grew up in Oceanside ca and lived in LA for about 6 years where I began really pursuing a career in singing. I have toured and traveled all over the West Coast and Islands like Samoa and Tahiti to sing and entertain. I have been releasing music since 2015 and have grown so much as an artist over the years. This dream has taught me grit, determination, and what it feels like to truly live out your dreams. I am most proud of how far I have come. I started singing and performing at the age of 13 and after all these years I am still doing what I love. I even met my husband who is also an amazing artist/musician while pursuing this career.

I think my multi culture background is what sets me apart the most. Being Samoan, Hawaiian, Japanese I have learned lot’s of values that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. I want my listeners to feel connected to not only my music, but to who I am at the core.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I would say making my family proud is what matters the most. My parents have invested so much into me and my dreams. They may not have always had the answers, but they’ve always believed in me. I want the younger generation who look up to me, to know that no matter what they want to do in life, as long as you work hard and stay the course… you can do anything 🙂
