Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Mckee.
Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was introduced to the candy business as a child when my mother opened The Candy Cupboard in 1981 one year after moving from our native town of San Diego. I took the business over in 2011 after my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Today I run it with my daughter. We are extremely proud to be carrying on our family legacy of this little shop also being third generation female owned business is exciting for us as well. We’ve grown our presence online as well with e-commerce.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up in the business I saw my mom struggle with finding new distributors as it was a time before the World Wide Web, today we have so much at our finger tips. We also attend the Sweet & Snack Expo yearly to find new and innovative confections to bring to our customers.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a creative in the business of candy. We provide top quality confections to our local community and our visitors along with our online community. It’s not just selling candy it’s a memory of childhood, evoking that child in everyone.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love working on brand events. Before taking the candy shop over I worked as an event producer so events are a bonus.. we’ve work with tec companies to brides. Collabs are always a way to add to our companies offerings..
