Artist of the Day: Rebecca Robb

Today’s Artist of the Day features an interview with Rebecca Robb. Please find our conversation below.

Thanks for joining us and we’re so excited to have our readers learn more about you and your creative works. Kick things off for us, what should they know?
I am specifically known for my seascapes, landscapes, and animal portraits. My style is impressionistic. Up close you can really appreciate painterly qualities of brushwork and textural paint throughout my oil paintings.

The most common reaction I receive is how tranquil and calming people find my paintings to be. My color pallet strikes a balance between colorful and harmoniously soft.

What story from your creative journey is one you think about or share often?
I paint nature in all its forms because nature brings me peace. I feel alive and connected to myself in a way I don’t feel in busy city life.

Throughout my childhood my family moved countries a lot. Beginning in Brazil, I never had a permanent house to grow attached to and call home. So, I became attached to nature. With each moved I felt at home in a field of flowers watching butterflies dance in the air, or sitting on the shore listening to the rhythmic rolling and crashing of ocean waves.

When I was volunteering in Africa, I remember sitting alone on a large hill in Arusha, Tanzania, overlooking endless wilderness, admiring animals I recognized from documentaries I watched as a child such as “animals are beautiful people” and “Serengeti” and even smiled to recognize Zazu from “Lion King.“ Hornbills, I now know, come in many varieties and colors. While taking in all the sights and sounds in this new landscape, I distinctly remember breathing deeply while embracing the wonder of nature that I desperately appreciate and love. I try to share this emotion with others through my art.

I find that most people feel a similar connection and nostalgia to my paintings. I often get people feeling drawn to a particular painting because it reminds them of a place they once lived, a place I have never been to. It amazes me that a single painting can bring the same emotion to different people from across the globe.

Alright, before we go, let’s do a quick lightning round.

Surprising Fact
I can be timid at first meeting and come across very soft with a “professional” front, but I am actually a very silly, class clown, self-deprecating humor for the entertainment of other type of person. I think my alter ego is a comedian. When I grow more confident in my friendships, you definitely begin to see that side of me.

Still throughout the day and sparking when eating out.

How can someone support you?
My small business as an artist brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I am delighted to be able to share my creativity with the world and feel so honored and humbled every time someone acquires one of my paintings for their own.

The best place of course to view my art is on my website. www.rebeccarobbfineart

Additionally, my Instagram and Facebook are a great place to keep up with my latest works, works in progress, and of course it’s always fun to see videos of my process and live paintings which I share on social media. Instagram/Facebook: @rebeccarobbfineart

I am so very pleased to announce that I now have my own art gallery where you can see my art in person. Besides original oil on canvas paintings, I also offer paper prints of my art, which look fantastic in a glass frame.

My vision for my gallery is to create a space where the community can get creative and share in the joy of art. I believe art belongs to everyone. That’s why every week I host a paint and sip as well as a kids painting workshop in my gallery.

My classes are both instructional as well as fun and enjoyable. Sign up is available on my website under workshops. My gallery is located at 2015 Birch Rd, Suite 510, Chula Vista, CA 91915
