Check Out Mona Bagrodia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mona Bagrodia.

Mona, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a board certified pediatrician raised in East Tennessee. I moved to San Diego with my family 4 years ago and have been loving it! Many families are hesitant to go to the mall or a tattoo parlor with babies and ask me about safe ear piercing. I trained with Blomdahl to do sterile medical ear piercings and come to people’s homes to do ear piercings of all ages. It makes families comfortable to have this much anticipated milestone done in their own home. After practicing medicine for over a decade, I think it’s important to keep up to date and active in the community. I also teach with Turning Teen which is a program created by doctors to teach puberty and sexual education classes to children and their parents.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had some experience with concierge medicine in the past but this was the first time doing it by solo. I’ve learned along the way to make scheduling and appointments as timely as possible knowing everyone has a busy schedule. I reached out to other pediatricians that have been doing concierge ear piercing in other cities to learn from them as well.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a board certified pediatrician and work at Perlman Pediatrics Mission Bay. I see children from birth to 18 years old for their medical care. I love working, living and raising my own two boys in this community! I take my time with each patient and pay attention to the individual challenges each families face. I have done extra training in mental health and am able to have a good rapport and understanding with children on the autistic spectrum or high anxiety. Empowering children and families to take care of themselves and seek care when they need it is a passion of mine. I also teach puberty classes through Turning Teen which has been incredibly rewarding.
