Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Zamora
Hi Nadia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My affinity for the color pink and all things feminine inspired me to create Pink Rose Café. I envisioned a charming space where women could dress up, enjoy good coffee, and have a great time with friends. Coming from a Mexican background, hospitality is deeply ingrained in our culture, and it’s both a pleasure and an honor to serve San Diegans and visitors alike.
Our café is designed to be Instagram-worthy, with picture-perfect spots from the exterior all the way to the restroom.
We take pride in celebrating women and the beauty of femininity, which is reflected in every corner of our café.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our journey began in March 2020, just as the COVID pandemic hit. What we thought would be a six-month buildout turned into a 14-month challenge. We faced financial difficulties, the civil unrest and riots in La Mesa, and numerous COVID closures and delays. At one point, we nearly decided to walk away from the project altogether.
But then, the community stepped in, offering us the emotional support and encouragement we didn’t know we needed to keep going. What started as a passion project turned into a commitment—we became determined to open, despite all the setbacks.
With the community’s encouragement, we persevered and were finally able to bring our vision to life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about PINK ROSE CAFE?
Pink Rose Café is located in the heart of La Mesa, East County, and is locally owned by Mexico City native, Nadia Zamora. Known for its all-pink aesthetic, the café is a haven for Instagram-worthy shots at every corner. Decorated for most major holidays, it’s the perfect spot to capture beautiful moments. Upon entering, you’re welcomed by a stunning 10-foot flower wall.
The café, run entirely by women, is celebrated for its feminine decor and pink-themed drinks—ranging from coffee to lemonades, matcha, and tea. We also offer a variety of food options, including bagel sandwiches, pink waffles, açaí bowls, salads, paninis, and avocado toast. Whether you’re catching up with friends or savoring our delicious food and drinks, you’re sure to enjoy every moment.
Our rapid success has set us apart, attracting visitors from around the world and putting La Mesa on the map as a must-visit destination in San Diego, California. We’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Instagram-famous bloggers and well-known TikTok influencers with our videos reaching over millions of views. We’ve also ran a campaign for Union Bank, been featured on reality TV shows, and appeared in magazines ranging from local publications to those in Mexico and Canada. Additionally, we’ve had the honor of hosting respected local and state politicians at our café.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Owning a small business has taught me the valuable lesson of resilience. We have inevitably faced challenges, financial hardships, unexpected setbacks and changes in the business market but we have been able to adapt and stay persistent maintaining a strong belief in our vision. Flexibility and problem-solving have become essential tools for us to navigate these obstacles. Most importantly we have built strong relationships with our customers and the community and ultimately that has been the foundation for our continued success.
