Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Travers.
Daniel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started creating art at a young age and took commercial art classes in a vocational program while in high school in Kansas City. After that, I moved to St. Louis, where I earned an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Communications. That program deepened my understanding of design, printing, and visual production.
I later returned to Kansas City to attend the Kansas City Art Institute, where I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photo New Media. That’s where I began blending design, photography, video, and sound in ways that still influence my creative work today.
After college, I worked in radio and digital media with iHeartMedia in San Diego, producing videos, websites, and campaigns for major brands. Over time, I wanted to make that level of creative production accessible to small and medium-sized businesses.
That led to creating Redideo Studio, a creative agency in San Diego focused on web design, video production, and marketing. After realizing what worked best for small businesses and local discovery, I focused on building San Diego Web Design Company (SD Web Co) to give businesses a dedicated place for web design and hosting. It’s built for local companies that want clean design, fast sites, and SEO that works.
Today, I combine creativity and strategy in every project, building things that look good and perform even better.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most creatives and business owners who go out on their own, there was a lot of trial and error. Early on, I had to learn how to balance the artistic side with the business side, including pricing projects, managing clients, and keeping a consistent workflow.
There were also times when work slowed down or when I took on too much trying to do everything myself. The digital space changes fast, so staying ahead of trends, technology, and SEO updates has been an ongoing challenge.
Each obstacle taught me something useful. It helped me refine my process, build better systems, and focus on the clients and projects that align with my skills and values. Looking back, those struggles are what made things work long term.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about San Diego Web Design Company?
San Diego Web Design Company, or SD Web Co, focuses on building clean, fast, and SEO friendly websites for local businesses. The goal is simple: to help companies get discovered online and turn visitors into customers.
I specialize in WordPress design, hosting, AI discovery, and local search optimization. Every site is built with user experience, mobile performance, and search visibility in mind. I also offer creative services like video production, photography, and digital marketing through my parent company, Redideo Studio, giving clients a full range of tools to grow their presence online.
What sets SD Web Co apart is the combination of design, technical skill, and local insight. After more than two decades in creative media, I understand both how a website should look and how it needs to perform. I have worked with large brands like iHeartMedia and Disney, but SD Web Co was built to serve small and medium-sized businesses that deserve the same quality.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the personal approach. Every project gets hands-on attention from start to finish, and I am always focused on long-term success rather than quick fixes. I want readers to know that SD Web Co is a San Diego-based company built on real experience, reliability, and creativity.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding the right mentor and network can make a huge difference. I’m part of a nonprofit group called Professionals with Purpose (PWP) that focuses on community involvement and fundraising in addition to business networking. It’s been a great way to connect with other entrepreneurs in San Diego while also giving back through local causes.
Working with SCORE, a national nonprofit that provides free business mentoring and education through experienced professionals, was also really helpful early on. Having access to people who have been through the challenges of running a business gave me a valuable perspective on planning, finances, and how to structure my services more effectively. Sometimes an outside view helps you see what you might be missing.
My advice would be to look for groups that combine real community value with professional growth. Stay active, ask questions, offer help when you can, and build relationships before you need them. Those connections often turn into long-term partnerships and friendships.
